Jacksonville City Nights...Wasn't planning to buy the new Ryan Adams, but heard a song on Sirius - Outlaw Country this weekend at my parents place, and was impressed. Went by Hoodlums ths morning, got Jackson Ville City nights, and so far it's not disappointed me. (on track 8)
Also an mix disc by a friend that's got a ton of Flying Burrito Bros, Gram Parsons that I hadn't heard (live stuff, oddities), with a handful of other cool artists too that I can't remember right now. good stuff.
It's FINALLY grown on me (like certain Psychic TV lp's I've grown to love passionately), though obviously, they sound nothing like Ryan Adams
But you and JMG3 were right...
It'll most likely stay in my rotation!
Where can I hear/find those 'Burritos' you speak of?
(No relation to the other guy)

ok, if you're into Ryan Adams, especially the Heartbreaker and much of the Whiskeytown stuff, you've gotta check out the early Flying Burrito Brothers (first couple albums) & the Gram Parsons solo stuff. you'll have to chase down some old records or more likely find greatest-hits discs or something (original records are from ~1970). Early californian country rock.... other's may argue w/ me some, but Ryan Adams has largely modeled his career on Gram Parsons, a very early young & outta control country-rocker. He spent a short time w/ the Byrds, did a couple albums with the Burritos, then went solo for a couple albums before OD'ing in the desert at age 27. Considered responsible for 'discovering' Emmylou Harris, who sang on his solo albums and toured with him. you'll notice most wannabe country rockers these days buy some legitimacy by getting Emmylou to to sing on their record (ryan adams, bright eyes, etc). ANYWAY, GP has some great songs, especially some of the work with the Burritos (great costumes, too), and has been a big influence on many, many folks in the decades since he died. enough for now...Where can I hear/find those 'Burritos' you speak of?
