Light rail adventures

28 April 2010 - 12:20 PM

I keep telling Jacki O all the crazy stuff I see on the light rail and Phoenix bus system and she told me to make a thread. In the 7 years I lived in Boston I saw a few things on the T but nothing compared to the weird, random stuff that happens on the light rail. This thread is for all your public transit adventures, please contribute.

I'll start with some of the notables from last year:

-an older man applying wart medicine to the various warts covering his hands.

-this older man got on the train and brushed against this seated 30 something man while trying to get to an open seat. The seating man, who I will henceforth call "crazy eyes," took super offense to this and said something that I couldn't exactly hear. Other dude said something back to crazy eyes, and then threw his cup of water into crazy eyes' face. Crazy eyes started laughing, and then punched other dude in the face. Other dude falls onto this 2 person seat containing a girl, maybe 16, with what I assumed was her little brother, he looked all about 3. I was sitting directly behind them. The girl's trying to shield her brother while crazy dudes pounds on other guy on top of her. Soon someone else on the train jumps up and pulls crazy eyes off of other dude, but then crazy eyes turns on the good samaritan and starts trying to fight him. In this time other dude has gotten up and rained blood from his face onto the girl and her brother, as well as all the seats and the floor of our part of the train. The train is moving this whole time. Finally it stops and other dude darts out while crazy eyes is yelling, "whose next? who wants to take me? Back it up, man, back up your talk!" The driver says over the intercom, "the police have been called, exit the train." Crazy eyes says, "I'll leave when I want to leave!" and slowly walks backwards off of the train, trying to make crazy eyes at anyone who dares look him in the face. After he gets off the doors close and the train keeps moving. I watched the blood and water mixture on the floor swish back and forth for another 10 stops before getting off. No one came to clean up the blood.
