New Year’s Movie Resolution 2: the Watchening

27 December 2020 - 08:20 PM

Very inspired by weener’s New Year's resolution to watch more movies - I have access to a LOT of movies I haven’t seen... not only do I have logins for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO Max, and the Criterion Channel, but between gifts, anthologies, and cheap movies I have bought sight unseen, there are hundreds of movies that I always plan on “watching one of these days,” but never get around to.

By December 31, 2021, I want to see 100 movies that I have not seen before. That’s an average of about two each week, so I’d like to put up a list of 10-15 movies on my radar each week to solicit some feedback, and I’ll pick two of them to watch. I haven’t decided whether or not this will include new releases (2021 streaming or god-willing theater when it’s safe), but I think I like the challenge of not including them.

As something of a preview, I want to watch as many of Bong Joon Ho’s films in the next week - there are a whole bunch on Criterion until 12/31 and I have only seen The Host, Snowpiercer, and Parasite.

Let’s get to work

07 November 2020 - 09:49 AM

Today, Joe Biden was projected to become the next President of the US, and Kamala Harris will be the first woman, first black, and first Asian to become Vice President.

This is not the end of stress or challenges, and problems have been around much longer than 4 years. But this is hopefully a new chapter, and one where we continue fighting for what we believe in.

The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.
