If anyone is curious, here is a blog post that details exactly how I made this video: http://www.facebook....id=396296351674

The last part was Brooklyn or thereabouts... where were the first frames from? It looks like it could be the I-10 north from Tucson?

Good eye! It's actually the 10 east from California into Phoenix.

very cool.

was the most challenging part getting the timing right for when the lyrics appeared on the sides of the trucks?

also, i was hoping you'd pull a tyler durden and insert a frame of hardcore pornography in there so we'd subliminally notice that something was wrong, but not know what. but i didn't get that feeling. alas.

Oh lord, yes. This video runs at about 10 fps so using some simple math I was able to figure out at around how many frames in I would need to perform an action in order to get it to match up. Things don't always work how you want them to so I ended up having to do a lot of manipulation of the framerate it editing to get it aligned just right. Really the most difficult part was dealing with the Google vans! They cover areas every couple of months so sometimes you'll be going along this desert freeway and suddenly it's an entire different day and different traffic conditions. This completely ruined the continuity so I had to get creative, some of those camera pans are only there to distract the viewer from realizing that we had suddenly hopped to a different google van. Also, I love the Fight Club idea, but running at 10fps any shots rated R would be a lot more noticeable :)

Very nice work, indeed. I like how you placed pieces of the lyrics on the passing-by semis. I didn't know you could remove the yellow line in the street view?

Yeah, all you need to do is move your cursor off the screen for a few seconds and it will disappear. I also used a photoshop batch script to crop out the hideous compass. Thanks for the blog love!

Also, I can't believe nobody mentioned Dear and the Headlights. (Or at least I don't think anyone did.) They are just great.
