FREQOUT!
16 March 2009 - 11:36 PM
Hey guys, brand spankin new party we're tryin out here, come get freqy!!! Saw a ton of new peepz @ the Michna show, thanks to all who came out and funked the Rogue up!
thru the wires & peloton musique present: FREQOUT!
From those demented boys at Thru the Wires, home of the misfit genres, and Phoenix's techno illuminati at Peloton Musique comes the first installment of a newly christened night designed specifically for the Valley’s electro freqs. Forming like Voltron on the dancefloors of Homme, Freqout! has a stated M.O. of kidnapping and forcing to play nice producers, DJ's, and performance artists sharing the common goal of gettin sweaty and knockin out a freqy party. With 5 in the front representing the spectrum of Phx's DJ community and 5 in the back bringing total live PA insanity, Freqout! defies divisiveness by bringing to the forefront the best of dubstep, techno, minimal, glitch, breakcore, fidget, and the boombap side of house in a kaleidoscopic pastiche of everything we love about electronic music and its bottomless expressive potential.Get in on the ground floor with us, and let's get freqy!!
Headliners!
METROGNOME
on the danceteria stage
From the dusty deserts of Tucson, and deep within his nest of buzzing cabling and incomprehensible machinery, Karl White brings us the future of everything... The live set must be seen to be believed, utilizing Karl's personal Reaktor based system of software utilities, projected to a large canvas, and controlled via infrared transmission aided by Wiimotes and finger pointers. The sound falls somewhere between a classic IDM aesthetic reminiscent of Richard Devine or the Schematic label, underscored with a booming techno sensibility, and flavored with masterful strokes of electro ala Phoenicia or Silicon Scally. A vital member of AZ's colossally fabulous "Not Breathing", and the 2nd place winner of the recent Laptop Battle, dude's worth the price of admission alone.
CAPTAIN MARMALADE
on the disasterteria stage
Hailing from a farflung corner of the sunshine state, the Captain is a certified chiptune freq with an eye to the expansion of the term in and of itself. Not content to simply rock a Sid Chip, Marmalade's live PA is a schizophrenic pile of gear: 8-bit, analog, and digital, upon which he goes ballistic like he's got 16 arms. The sound is every NES game soundtrack gangbanging each other live to an audience of breakbeats and vocoded robots, with a tsunami of glitch effects supersoaking the whole affair. We recommend bringing extra hip joints so you don't bust a gasket.
Danceteria Stage Artists
DJ Issa
Representing Subside Dubstep and Blunt Club, DJ Issa is a certified freq on the decks bringing a bellowing zephyr of bass laden destruction from the land of the dubsteppaz, Issa just may blow the place to pieces.
Sonique des Fleurs
Resident DJ @ Fuse Fridays for Bar Smith and known for her founding role in the DTS Massive, Sonique's bootycentric take on electro and funked up house hits like a ton of bricks, fillin the floor, where even the chin-strokiest IDM nerdz can't help but freq it.
Shane Silkey
A major arm of the Are Friends Electrik? collective, the Upstairs years at Homme, and now proprietor of the whitehot techno label Peloton Musique, Shane brings top shelf techno and minimal to the floor, his presence rendering flights to Berlin pointless.
Drekxi
The maiden voyage of DJ Drekxi, bringing an eclectic set from the deranged, wonky fringes of fidget, tech-house, bass, and booty. He parties weird yo.
Disasterteria Stage Artists
Cable Car Crash
One man glitch wrecking ball brings freq'd out melodic breakcore on a joie de vivre tip!
Ghouliez
Local upstarts and certified maniacs throw down a saw tooth splattered electro bloghouse dance project destined for interwebz notoriety!
DIM
Winner of the Laptop Battle Invitational, DIM is a mind bendingly diverse producer who has got d&b, breakcore, and glitch in a deathgrip of furious technique, hardcore freq's take note.
ANgR MgMT
He of the incomprehensibly intricate "Cut-Ups" EP series on Spoomusic, brings a classic IDM tinged set of slice and diced breakbeats and emo synthwizardry.

Michna (ghostly) w/ Eliot Lipp (hefty/mush)
23 February 2009 - 11:44 PM
Hihi!! Thru the Wires is back this March with a very, very special set from the inimitable MICHNA! Check it out!
MICHNA w/ Raw Paw
Note: Michna will be performing with a full band, RAW PAW, and the set will include a full audio/visual assault with 8 televisions, smoke machine, LED freakouts, a horn section, acoustic drummer, with Michna orchestrating the whole affair from his command station, this is gonna be f'ing rock n roll.
Born Adrian Michna, DJ/producer Michna combines instrumental hip-hop, electro, and IDM. Starting out his musical career as a trombonist on the N.Y.C. circuit, playing ska music in the Lion's Den and CBGB before he was old enough to get served at the bar, in the mid-'90s he moved to Miami and founded the enigmatic DJ collective Secret Frequency Crew along with Matthew Brown and Matt Friedman. Their song "Miami Eyes" became a favorite among the underground DJ community and caught the attention of Diplo. In need of beats for his forthcoming album, he enlisted the help of Michna (then going by the name DJ Egg Foo Young) to produce some of his tracks. From there, Michna got bitten by the producer bug and dialed in the frequencies behind the boards for a number of albums, including Bonde do Rolę's With Lasers and Secret Frequency Crew's own debut. Ghostly International head honcho Sam Valenti became a huge fan of Forest of the Echo Downs' laid-back trip-hop vibe, and after listening to some solo demos, he invited Michna to join the Ghostly roster alongside likeminded artists Dykehouse and Flying Lotus. Michna moved to Brooklyn and released his debut LP Magic Monday in 2008, featuring artwork by his friends in the Miami art collective Friends with You.
ELIOT LIPP
From Tacoma to San Francisco to Chicago to Los Angeles to New York, producer Eliot Lipp has always followed the music. Creating songs that, according to XLR8R, “tickle days after the last spin,” he combines hip-hop influenced drum programming with the vintage synthesizer sounds found in the cutting edge electronic music of the 70s. Eliot Lipp’s early career saw him vigorously honing his skill on the club circuit where his fresh and daring take on hip-hop impressed Scott Herren (Prefuse 73) so much that he put out his 2004 debut LP on Eastern Developments. Subsequent successful releases on Hefty Records have continued to expand his audience and refine his craft. Now, Mush is thrilled to bring offerings of Eliot Lipp’s timeless yet novel interpretation of electro-funk to the people.
JARED ALAN
The proprietor of phx's hot shit 'Faux Show Productions' and the booty rave sausage fest 'Cheap Thrills' is coming to beatdown a freqnasty glitchatak idm nervous breakdown of boots-knockin electronic floor fillers... come see the other side of this veritable pillar of the scene.
LIVING HUMANS BEING
Rob & Mark molest hip-hop with their electro-acoustic touch, bringing a screen of fuzz, a dab o' freak, and a trunk of extra bump to the proceedings.

That's right... 5 years old!!! 60+ shows and 120+ artists later, and thru the wires is still standing, and still workign to ensure that wacked electronics, glitch, idm, breakcore, and all the other misfit genres have a home under our blistering sun.

THE BATTLE!!! 18 contestants go head to head deathmatch gladiator style, in an all out freakout for total supremacy and a spot on the heaped wreckage of destroyed MIDI controllers and crushed LCD screens to be crowned the cream of the crop and be flown out the Seattle for a spot competing against 16 other regional champions for WORLD SERIES OF LAPTOP BATTLEMANSHIP!!!
Holy cow.... This is going to be epic....

Thru The Wires Presents Are Friends Electrik? W/ Metrognome
21 July 2008 - 08:19 PM
The mind melting experimental electronic nuttery of Thru the Wires meets the dancefloor filling, booty attentive, and ankle pudding preparing techno wizardry of the Are Friends Electrik? crew. (ie: Pablo, Shane, and Joe) ...
What will happen? Who can say? We're guessing they'll form like Voltron into an electronic mutant electro dance storm that'll have hips wiggin and feet stomping in ways human joints weren't meant to move...
Metrognome, a member of Tucson group Not Breathing also appears with a set of robot glitch-hop from the Top 40 of Power 92 year 2048. And he does it on a touchscreen....
Free entrance to anyone who can explain Conway's Game of Life in 5 words or less!
