Open source streaming program. I personally haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a reasonable alternative to Xsplit. Plus it's free, that's always cool.

I put in some serious progress today. Murdered the bed of chaos, pinwheel and the 4 kings. Now I just need a light source for the Tomb of Giants and it's pretty much game over for my first run. I've murdered half the merchants on accident and botched all the quest lines to the maximum. All that's left after that is to murder some bonfire keepers and farm up something to replace my Black Knight Sword for NG+.

Waves at a local beach the Sunday after Superstorm Sandy passed by. As a reference those poles are about 10-12 feet tall and they're right near the typical shoreline.

#1184099 Psychedelics...

Posted by SenJ on 13 December 2012 - 12:58 PM

I took 2 hits of acid yesterday and smoked several bowls to help the experience. I went in expecting some kind of wild open-eyed visuals and was pleasantly surf pised to discover that was a total misconception. The body high was unlike anything I've experienced before and I was grinning for damn near 8 hours. When I firat felt them kicking in I noticed some really strange patterns and texture in the carpet. The dubstep playing in the background began to resonate with my body. It definitely wasn't my preferred music but it sounded great anyway. Then I looked over at my friend's table with a wood grain type finish and was temporarily mesmerized by the "breathing". It was like a highway of smokey grey and brown tones swirling and moving in perfect orders as if guided by traffic lights. The mental aspect of the high was easily the most intensely positive feeling I've ever had. I sorted through a lot of things in my life and really wanted to talk a lot, but that proved somewhat difficult. Around 2-3 hours in my friends went outside for a cigarette. Walking outside felt like a 20 minute ordeal. At some point I looked over at the blinds which swayed and the window bulged Somewhere aroune 4-5 hours in my friends drove me to Wal-mart. Riding in the car as the sun was setting was surreal. I watched the horizon drift and blur as we drove along. It's hard to explain how I felt sitting in the back seat. It was almost like the sides of the car didn't exist and the night sky was encompassing. In wal-mart I sat down near at the Mcdonalds with a chick I hardly know feeling certain that everyone knew I was tripping. I had a difficult time talking to the chick sittingwithh me. I kept looking over at the Mcdonalds milkshake slideshow hanging by the registers. I thought that some blueberry thing looked delicious. The marketing of the product seemed really strange and important. After leaving Wal-mart my friends were kind enough to drive me past the neighborhood Christmas kights. They wiggled a little bit and were intensely bright and beautiful. When we returned home we smoked another bowl so that I might get some more pominlent. Tracers. It definitely helped. A short amount of time after smoking I was treated to a poiy (?) Show. I generally think that stuff is stupid, however, it was wildly entertaining while tripping. After the show I closed my eyes determined to see some random stuff. The closed eye visuals were wispynand strange. I saw the outline of some stripper chicks with their tits lighting up to the red and green lights dancing around the room from some laser light things. It peaked with what I assumed to They didn't last long and were strange. They vividly danced around the corners of my eye lids. As I started coming down I once again felt an overwhlming urge to talk a lot which once again proved difficult. Still tripping a little I got real hungry and ate a ton of grilled cheese sandwhichs which were unbelievably good.

With it all said and done I'm incredibly happy to have the experience. I feel like it would have been much better with someone else to trip with and talk to in the same state of mind. I'd definitely try hallucinogenics again but probably not for a decent amount of time. I'm glad that my first trip wasn't as intense as I had expected it to be. Sorry for the giant wall of text I'm posting from my phone while everything is relatively fresh.

#1183784 the White Castle thread

Posted by SenJ on 12 December 2012 - 09:03 AM

I had Krystals several months ago when they celebrated their 25th anniversary. Each Krystal burger was 25 cents so I got eight of them. They tasted like total shit in burger form. After about an hour I had the most overwhelming need to poop I've ever experienced. It smelled like onions and death. I never want to eat Krystals or White castle again.

Arrrrgh fuck those Anor Londo archers.

Use the boost to get through!

Killed Seath the Scaleless a few nights back. I haven't had much motivation to keep going lately. I guess the next place I would go is New Londo Ruins which seems entirely terrible to deal with.

I recently changed my stream channel because Justin.tv is old as shit and for whatever reason I can't use the same ID on twitch. Dunno how I missed this thread before, but here goes.

I stream inconsistently but now that's about to change. Weekdays around 8:30 EST I'll be live playing vidya games for at least a solid hour. Mostly Dark Souls until I beat it and then Dota 2, SC2 and whatever else I feel like playing. Consider yourselves followed. I'm a fiend for streams.

It took a few days but the deed is done. Ornstein and Smough got rocked. I tramped through the painting and probably missed some stuff but it seems like there were only soul items there anwyay. Killed the Great Grey Wolf Sif and upgraded my Black Knight Sword to +5. Next I need to go settle the score with the Hydra and then go find one of the 4 bosses that come afterwards.

I've got a question for the DS vets, hopefully one of you has the answer...

Some things in this game are a tad bit too hardcore for my taste. Granted I had a perfectly fine chance to avoid that whole mess but I was trying my best to only cheat if I raged too hard or had no idea how to progress.

edit: Definitely upgrade stuff! I was hesitant to at first because I thought that shards were rare but it's absolutely not the case. It'll make things a lot easier for you.

I've sort of hit a brick wall in Anor Londo. My second or third attempt trying to get in to the catherdral was a success. I got right up to the bonfire where Solaire is chilling and immediately got invaded before I could light the thing. My gut instinct was to alt f4 and just reload to safety, but my heart told me that I could win and trounce a foolish invader. Needless to say in my first pvp experience I got bopped. Now I'm having serious issues getting past the archer knights on the ledge. After attempting to make it back for a few days I feel comfortable getting up to that point, but for some reason no matter what I try to do I get an arrow to the face and fly off the ledge. It's been frustrating and I'm sure there's some kind of trick to getting past, but for the life of me I can't seem to get it right.

I had a strategy for these guys and I think I could do it now even though I'm kind of drunk. No randomness here, just pure skill. Once you leave the last spire and head toward the wall, you're committed. Go full speed, and when you hit the well go left. You'll get shot in the back by the knight that was on the right, but parallel to the way you're moving so you won't get knocked off. After that, you just walk behind/past the knight that you headed toward. It seems crazy, but if you just walk past with a steady hand, he won't attack quick enough. Then you'll be down slope and you'll have a spire protecting you from the knight on the right so he can't snipe you. Now it's just a simple sword fight with lefty. When he is dead, righty is easy enough to handle. Just approach slow while blocking until you're close enough that he switches from arrow to sword. Piece o cake B)

Thanks for the advice. I eventually just used a greatsheild for more stability and lucked my way on to the other side of the Knight on the right. Slipped around and got back to the bonfire. After exploring what I think to be most of the cathedral I chickened out before heading in to fight Ornstein and Smough. That's gonna be one hell of a fight.

After about and hour's worth of heavy rage I killed the Capra demon last night. I don't know how the hell people kill him without a +5 garg halberd, or equally upgraded weapon. Then I ran through the sewers for what felt like an eternity, until I ran across some hollow that scared the ever living shit out of me behind some bars. Turns out she was a merchant, so I was gonna buy some stuff until she called me a humdrum lad. At that point I overreacted and starting going sickhouse on her ass. She ran off screaming bloody murder. Thankfully, she didn't have much for sale other than moss clumps, which I have 20+ of each thanks to the horror that is the darkroot garden. Fuck the hydra, fuck the hydra, fuck the hydra. A friend said that fight is really difficult to figure out (no spoilers please). I dipped down in to the valley of the Drakes two nights ago, got hit once and ran like a girl all the back the to elevator. lol. I stopped last night after my first death to the Gaping Dragon, which is probably the most epic boss encounter yet. Too bad I now have to treck all the way back to the blacksmith to repair my halberd before I try killing it again. I'll probably be streaming some tonight around 8:30-10:30 EST. If anyone is interested in watching a total blind first (with help from a friend once I rage too much) run I'll throw up a link tonight.

Fuck the Capra Demon.

#1167753 Dark Souls

I always go for swords, and wanted to try polearms. So I've been trading off between various weapons I've found. Spear, Winged Spear, Halberd, Gargoyle Halberd. So far... not a huge fan -_- The halberds seem very slow and not incredibly strong to make up for the loss of agility. And while the spear attacks are a bit quicker, they do little damage and still seem to leave me open too much. Rize I know you're a huge fan, what appeals to you? Anyone else have any attachments to these weapons and why?

I've been using Spears / halberds since I found a winged spear. I've been using the Gargoyle Halberd since I picked it up because it's the most damaging weapon that I've found so far without a ridiculous strength requirement. As a total Dark Souls newbie the range is really nice for an extra buffer zone where I can usually catch enemies mid-swing or after they miss with an easy and relatively safe counter-attack. I haven't tried how feasible that would be with a regular sword, but it just "feels" safer using the halberd. I'm a little hesitant to upgrade it so far, because I don't know how rare titanite shards are and also not sure how quickly I'll find an upgrade that would make me regret that decision.

In the past two days I've progressed in to the Darkroot Garden, up to the boss, who has so far proven to be incredibly obnoxious. One thing I've really enjoyed about Dark Souls is that no matter how hard a boss / enemy is they haven't felt impossible yet. I need to work on my timing for dodging these stupid butterfly attacks and then it should be much more manageable.

I finally got on the Dark Souls train two days ago. God damn this game is ridiculously hard. I spent approximately 5 hours last night in the Undead Parish getting brutalized. After streaming all that time one of my friends suggested that I needed to run back to the bonfire and level up more. I must have lost at least 10 levels worth of souls over the course of the night. At least I killed the stupid boar.
