#1397875 Daemon9623 was murdered last night

Posted by Naz on 23 April 2019 - 06:08 PM

After the first magwest he had like 5 hours to kill before his flight so I drove him to Santa Cruz so he could see Travis while he was in the area. We got stuck in some serious traffic and I put on Double Ferrari, he gave me an in depth review of every single song, he fucking loved that albu

I feel like everything was an adventure with him. Even a beer run.

pretty sure i've been on one of those magical beer runs with him.

I'm at a loss for words. I saw the news on facebook. Daemon truly was the embodiment of shizzies nevar say die.

Such a tragedy, I hope the woman gets what she deserves.

#1389970 The home recording thread

Posted by Naz on 12 October 2018 - 10:22 AM

Finally stepping up and getting a non-home studio space. There's a building two blocks down from me where I can rent a room as big as my bedroom for $300 a month. I've got 3-7 people who want to go in on it (I think 4 is the ideal number), so I'll finally have a place to play my guitar amp loud and everyone is contributing gear. It's not big enough for a drum set, but my bud that is hooking me up with the referral has a bigger room with a kit and offered to trade me time in there room if i would do a couple sessions as there tracking engineer. win win.

I was just listening to some of my old DOD recordings and realized how far I had come since then, but I really haven't actually produced anything new.

So this will be a big step and a huge goal for 2019.

Tried to make an 11:60 joke to my co workers discussing whether to move our schedule to military time. you could practically hear a whooshing sound happen.

Installed the dusenberg trem on my SG. looks classy. pictures to come soon. we'll see how it affects the tuning stability over time. I'm already got locking tuners on it, so hopefully relatively little.

Tomorrow I get to open up for Derrick Carter, one of the realest OG Chicago House DJs on the scene. Woke up to a text from him last week, "yo what u doing on the 8th," canceled a vacation I had planned (like i really don't need a weekend bender on acid tbh), and bam, get to play my favorite club in the city alongside a proper legend.

I may be poor as fuck, but DJing is sometimes pretty alright.

just tape the reverb tank to the front of the shell it will look really cool and not at all stupid.

i have some spacers in my head because the output transformer is soon huge (we used a 100 watt output transformer in a 40/50watt head config because we were really looking to make it super dynamic, which we accomplished). Can really bang on it to get some nice wash effects and we have a drive knob for the input so you can use it for some cavernous feedback effects. really happy with how that works out, it can sound pretty monstrous when mixed with the clean input pushed pretty hot.

I think this will fit a SG without drilling holes.

This looks dope. It's pretty much the same as the Eastwood guitars version. I think i'll do it!

Took me over 100 runs to beat it the first time, and a month of consistent playtime. Finally beat the robot's past (my last) and I was over 300 deaths. I think 305. Not even interested in attempting bullet hell, the enemies rank up way too much for my puny reflexes to handle (maybe it's easier on a computer with mouse and keyboard aiming). Big Shotgun made fast work of every boss i faced. better than commando. but due to the DPS cap on the last boss, i ran out of ammo and had to finish with inferior weapons.

I'm going to attempt to unlock the remaining shortcuts, but i may give up as I've only unlocked the first one. Getting the dude the master round isn't the hardest, with random luck and good weapons i can usually get all but the last master round.

I don't have anyone to play with, so i have no way of unlocking the cultists alt uniform.

Pilot kinda sucks. Lock picks could possibly net you some awesome items without keys, but the risk seems greater than the reward. I fucking forgot the broken TV on this last run and I didn't score any other active items, so other than dealing with pits, i would've been golden on unlocking the robot. I also bet wrongly on trying to score junk to upgrade sir junk and blew up two green chests and ended with more than enough keys for the last floor, didn't earn anything good there. But I did manage to buy the compressed air tank which decimates bosses as well as devolver rounds which turn stronger enemies randomly into weaker versions (also helps net extra shell casings from essentially killing the enemy twice). Got a good pattern down for the final boss where I can get through it with only 2 or three hits. sharks made quick work of him.

Final boss was down to its last hit and i screwed up a dodge roll and died. Fuck. Gotta do another run as the fucking pilot. His biggest advantage seems to be that he gets a bit luckier with chests, and discounts at shops. Otherwise fuck this Han Solo wannabe.

More Enter the Gungeon. Had a few killer runs with the hunter, bailed on trying to unlock the robot and finally beat her past. Boss is easy if you just ignore the mad scientist. I think which crossbow you get in the past is randomized between the sticky one and the one that slows enemies down. the sticky/explode on reload took quick care of him.

I can usually get a good fight in on most of the hollow bosses now. Wall monger is getting a bit easier but is still super hectic, kill pillars usually destroy me unless i have some gun that manages to damage them all equally (the last pillar wrecks my run all the time).

All I have left is the pilot, and I just started a run where I got the drill and prototype rail gun on the first floor. Makes up for about two days worth of getting only brown chests on the first floor, but I got hazed for two full hearts by the trigger twins which I should be able to kill flawless with only the starting gun at this point. i even had the nuclear bomb active item, but i always forget about those when i need them most.

If I can kill the pilot's past, i'll work on getting the robot next.

Edit: I have more than enough keys, so the debate is to risk getting some good items on the first secret floor or just jump down to the second floor. I need health boosters more than anything else right now.

Enter the Gungeon:

Just beat the past for the bullet. Heavily inspired by a Link to the Past, you face bosses resembling Gannon and his servant. Even the alternate oft you unlock is reminiscent of the bunny link turns into when you enter the dark world. Forgot to grab the TV on this run, so no robot for me. Lucked out with some massive buffs to be able to use the sword for most of the rooms, and got the railgun which decimated bosses. Managed to get one master round (extra heart) and two other heart boosting items to give me enough health to survive the dragon.

So now i've beaten the past for the convict (easy), marine (not too hard), and the bullet (easy-ish once you memorize Canon's patterns). Seems that they make the bosses of the past easy to make up for the crazy amount of work you have to do to build the bullet that can kill the past and get through the final floor. The Hunter's boss was pretty hard, and I kinda suck with the pilot, so I still have those to do.

#1386632 GIRLS!

Posted by Naz on 10 August 2018 - 10:07 AM

Been dating someone pretty badass that's been kind of good for me. She's a part time substitute teacher, part time high end cocktail bartender, and decided this summer to teach herself how to repair cars and is working at her friends auto repair shop. She knows how to weld, could probably kick my ass, and doesn't take shit from any schlubs. We have pretty good chemistry, we're both just workaholics so we don't get to spend much time together. We haven't had a serious conversation about where this relationship is going, but I don't want to force the issue. I'm happy with things being fun lighthearted and carefree. She totally gets my nightlife work lifestyle and is also a pretty good musician in her own right (she can sing, play keys guitar and bass.) Feeling lucky.

I got pretty drunk at work (standard fare). Kinda amazing to work a job where not only am i allowed to drink, i'm encouraged to drink and entertain people. Being the DJ means I'm both your entertainer and your host with the most to say. Not that I have to drink, ;) but it's nice to be able to sip on some really tasty whiskey while i do.
