that's what I was talking about. I totally have track 12 of disc two on tape. It's not extremely "rare", but it's fucked up because it has the same title as the other "verse chorus verse". They are not the same song.

Mothrock, that's my point. The songs on the box set are 'alternate versions'. In other words, demos. In other words, you think you're getting all the rare songs in one place only to find out that it's not the studio version but the demo.

Even In His Youth was a B-side on the Smells Like Teen Spirit single. Since all that stuff was re-released as this collection they didn't put any of that stuff on the box set.

nirvana, on and off, is my favourite band. without a doubt.

guys were doing the grunge thing way before them, but they perfected it.

i havent gotten the box set yet, basicly because im broke, but i will, and im sure i'll love it.

god, i almost threw up when i looked at the new times, and saw that Emenem or however the fuck he spells his name, is on top of the zia charts, and nirvana is number 8.

but whatever, people have bad taste.

i just wish i was born a decade earlier, when bands like nirvana were playing fucking rock and roll, not "indie pop".

I was born a decade earlier. And believe me, shit as bad as Eminem still dominated the charts. Let's see, I guess Eminem would roughly equate to Vanilla Ice back then.

It's no different now than it was then. Someone's always playing something good, you just have to find it.

i dont care if the music i like i popular or not, but the general rock world was cooler then, i would love to be looking forward to a new mudhoney or nirvana cd, instead i have to look forward to some new modest mouse crap.

im just speaking in general of course, im mostly just agreeing with and defending shane's orig. post.

Where have I been to not see this wonderful thread on Nirvana, my favorite band in the whole world? I have every single Nirvana CD, tape, record, bootleg, compilation, picture, article, magazine, poster, t-shirt, video, etc. that you can find. I was a tad bit obsessed about Nirvana and Kurt Cobain when I was a young'n. Since then I've calmed down a little but still get teary eyed whenever I read anything about Kurt Cobain. I am so excited to get the box set. I was really surprised to see all the new titles I don't believe I have. A friend from work brought his in so I could look at it and I listened to the first CD. As a huge Nirvana fan I am happy with anything new that's put out, especially a DVD of home videos. I never got to see them live because my strict parents wouldn't let me. Nirvana played the State Fair here and the show was on a weekday. At that time I wasn't allowed to go to shows during the school week, even though the show was over with at 9 p.m. and everybody I know went. I will forever hate my parents for that. Why I didn't sneak out and see it is beyond me. Some of my favorite Nirvana songs that I have only on bootlegs are "Opinion" with Kurt doing the acoustic song on the radio. I also love the Wiper's cover of "Return of the Rat." Greg Sage hangs out at Coffee Plantation and Borders at the Biltmore all the time and everytime I see him I want to ask him about Nirvana. I also love letting people listen to the operatic "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Nirvana did on Top of the Pops. For anyone who says Kurt can't sing I play them that song. Don't buy the box set at Borders because it's $52 on sale. I saw it was at Target for like $28 on sale, but I'm not sure if it's still on sale.
Oh and I love Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction. That is still on my top 10 list.

tor, you gotta realize that Eminem's cd is a $15-20 NEW cd, and Eminem has a lot of popularity RIGHT NOW. THe Nirvana boxed set is an expensive collection of 10+ year old rare/demo/unreleased songs that really only cater to the hardcore fans. Of course Eminem is going to be higher ont he charts. I'm surprised that Nirvana is even as high as #8 quite frankly.

That was a great show, especially since the mighty MUDHONEY opened.

I saw myself on MTV news the next day in the crowd with a big shit-eating grin on my face, they were doing a story on the start of the In Utero tour.

Any of you go to the Nirvana show at the After the Gold Rush?

Or the Mudhoney show at the Sun Club?

(that's right, I'm trying to score cool points)
