Haha! Donaldo, you have stumbled upon the genius of Richard Bach. Once you finish with that you should also check out this one, and see which way it rubs you. Both are brilliant in their own ways, but I prefer the latter.Johnathan Livingston Seagull
I have been working on this one for months, it's kind of a hard read but I am about half way through.
I wish this book had Cliffsnotes or something.
Take your time old man, these vultures are happy to wait...

Little Brother
Everyone should read this. If 1984 was a prediction of the future, Little Brother is a prediction and unraveling of the present. There are certainly some exaggerations in this book, but nothing that is really untrue or made up. The technology described exists, and the ramifications are already evident.
The story is about a teenager named Marcus who is a bit of a tech nerd. He's in the wrong place at the wrong time when I terrorist attack strikes a bridge in San Fransisco, and the DHS picks up him and his friends and keeps them for six days for questioning. After he is released, his one friend (who got stabbed in the mob of people after the attack) still can't be found and they don't know if he's still alive. He gets home and lies to his parents about where and why he was being held, and then finds that his custom built laptop has been tampered with. The degree to which the DHS is monitoring him is unknown at this point, but Marcus swears revenge for the things they've done.
Everything about the book makes me feel paranoid, and it's scary that none of this stuff is really made up.

Interesting article on what books have inspired Obama.
Also from the article:
Ugh... I've read maybe 3 books this year? I've bought about 15 books this year too... I should step it up.[Karl Rove]recently boasted that he beat the president by reading 110 books to Mr. Bush’s 95 in 2006

Right now I'm reading Boy's Life by Robert McCammon. Shawn asked me to bring it home for him because he remembered reading it as a kid. It's kind of a pulpy book, but actually pretty good so far. Sort of along the lines of Stephen King.

It's on my "I've been reading this for too long and I just need to finish it" list I actually picked it up again the other day... so close now.

That gives me a great idea. Maybe I will write down the name of every book I read this year! That sounds like fun. I will have to go back and try to remember what I have read so far this month.
So far this year:
Last night I finished RISEN by J Knight
and started The Traveling Vampire Show by Richard Laymon.
The Academy - Bentley Little
Dark Terrors 6 - Jones & Sutton
Fears Unnamed - Tim Lebbon
The Keep - F Paul Wilson (This was a re-read)
Just After Sunset - Stephen King

Holy cow, how can you keep track of how many books you have read in a year? I would have no idea.
Get a LibraryThing or Good Reads account. I would have no idea how many books I read if it weren't for keeping track of it online.
