So we had our big housewarming party. On Saturday night, there were roughly 150 bottles of homebrew, about 25% of a 5 gallon keg of homebrew, and a full size keg of Bud Light (the guy upstairs handled this.

On Sunday morning there were about 10 bottles of homebrew, an empty homebrew keg, a bunch of empty bottles of comercial beer that people brought, and about 90% of a keg of Bud Light. So I guess everyone liked the homebrew. I don't think I even had one of my own, so I can't really comment on the flavor.

a couple weeks ago i gave away a bunch of homebrew in arizona.

if anyone that drank one is reading this, please let me know what you thought of it.

i'm down to 16 homebrews, and i still need to give a few away to some people.

Yep, pumpkin season is here. I saw pumpkins at our local grocery store just this afternoon.... and I was thinking about making beer out of one of them.

man you can make a beer out of anything huh john. They should add that to KOL. Homebrew link. Just combine a Knob Sausage with an Imp ale and voila Knob Sausage Ale....mmm...although they would have to program in the right amount of hopps, brewing time, heat etc...etc...

If it's got sugar in it, it can be brewed into beer. Aw, hell, even if it doesn't, as long as it has flavor you can put it in your beer and get your sugar elsewhere. Yeah, brewmaster should be available after ascension. You could cast spells, and elementary would be "fizzy domestic" somethingorother, and your 50MP spells could be the "belgian wave of delicious goodness".

Homebrew thread what.

I'm going to attempt a lager this weekend. Should be really interesting. Talked with Sherv's friend Aaron at Colin's party and he said the "homebrew flavor" I've been getting with all my beers is because the temperature is too high. My new beer fridge in the basement should take care of that.

So I'm thinking about making a pumpkin lager or an oktoberfest. My basic plan would be to brew an amber lager, but add in the ingredients recommended in a pumpkin ale recipe.

Either that or I'll just brew an Octoberfest recipe. Decisions decisions. The pumpkin lager sounds more interesting, but I really don't want to mess it up.

Just don't use canned pumpkin. What a disaster.

Good to know. Pumpkins are all over now, so I was planning on using fresh. I saw a recipe that called for baking the pumpkin first and then adding it to the boil. That looked pretty good.

Yeah, I saw something similar. Also, the recipe I read said to only put the pumpkin in the last few minutes of the boil. otherwise the flavor will dissipate. That makes sense. It's more like using the pumpkin as a substitute for finishing hops (or maybe in addition to). I really want to do it again with fresh pumpkin. Not necessarily a porter, but maybe.

Okay, pumpkin lager in the beer fridge, hopefully ready to go. When I cracked the yeast tube, not much happened so hopefully the little dudes are alright. Fermenting at a cool 50 degrees. Basically all I did was take a pumpkin ale recipe and use octoberfest lager yeast instead. Smells delicious, so hopefully it works.
