What can Phoenix do?

I have never seen anyone from the shizz, with very few exceprions, at any of these peoples shows.
I really only see the main shizz people at shizz shows.
I don't think most people here have ever seen or heard us....yet somehow we manage. We've never played a Shizz event...but we somehow soldier on.
I think the main folks at the Shizz are completly aware of what the Shizz is, it's a place for us to mentallly masterbate, and be silly, and once a month some folks get together and put on a nice show. Oh yeah, let's not forget all those trekkies on the minibosses board, but that's a different world over there.
Nothing more & nothing less. It's a good thing. It's just a little clique, one that I'm not really part of, nor is brodie, nor is Church, nor is AaronTTP. And all those mentioned exist in different cliques........there are a few cool folks I've met via the Shizz, marty, big poppa..ok, two. But two REALLY cool guys.....I think the Shizz has been very helpful to some bands....I never expected it to be helpful to my band, for musical reasons, and perhaps, just maybe, because, I, believe it or not, can come across as a dink...but I'm sure it's helped remind a few folks that we have a show, and it sure does save me sending 6 e-mails . It is what it is, and as much as I've made fun of the whole thing, here i am......I the Shizz is fine. Anyways, it's Phoenix, what the Hell do ya want?

all the 'scenes' we dream about as being 'cool' are pretty much the same as here. a bunch of musicians (and their roadie girlfriends) going out and watching local bands & vice versa (ok i'll catch some flak for being sexist, but you know what I mean? don't you??? don't you??) Seattle was that way, then a couple of bands got record deals and all of a sudden it became a 'buzz' scene. same with New York in the 70s, same with every stupid scene. uh ..... i don't have a point, just play music and drink Sparks.
now i stand amongst the 6 or so people all chiming in about the same old shit. it's dumb....i ought to be an english professor or something.

no basements....
....and not enough rainy days......
and, AaronTTP...of course of got your back.....DOOR!!!!!!!!
and, Aaron, lotsa folks round these parts, are either too new, or too young, to remember that it used to be better here.....it seemed pretty lame then, even, but, looking back, it seems pretty decent....
Edcels, Gibsons, Balboa, Wongs, Lucky dragon, Nita's......in addition to the places that are still open, like Modified, Hollywood Alley and Sail.....
We had a pretty good scene back then.....all without e-mail, myspace, etc.....I don't really remember us talking about the 'scene' too much back then.....I'm not sure what happened......I think there is more fragmentation now.......Maybe somehow it has to do in someway with the internet...maybe it hasn't helped anything....Maybe when a band is playing, you can download their tunes, realize it's bullshit, and not go to the show....maybe the internet has been bad for live music....I'm just throwing shit out there....maybe people would rather sit home & play video games, or post on message boards....
shit!!!!! there was some cool shit going on at Modified tonight!!!
Fuck...

im not trying to fan the fire or even add anything to this argument...but do you feel as if maybe you've lost some type of something that made going to and playing shows gratifying for you along the way? im not trying oto diagnose, i just want an honest answer after reading the responses above. you can even do it in pm if you'd rather. i would have pm'd you per donald's suggestion, btu i'd like to see this thread come to a happy agreeable end.dead hot workshop selling out gibsons on a thursday. shane, we had it good and didnt even know it. am radio all star with monti verdict star at the alley. reba crying in the front row to the lyrics "i think abut you all the time, that doesnt feel too good, my mine was twisted in a mess, you bet it was, but that didnt seem to turn you off!!!!!!" fucking those were the days. -trunkspaceAll the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

i don't think people here are scared of disagreement or discussion... that's quite obvious with this 12 page threadWhy end the thread? Tack it to the top of the fucking board. Let this be a discussion that goes on and on and on so we can constantly improve things...
...don't be so scared of disagreement and discussion.
personally.. i'm tired of this discussion.
it's circles of nothingness....beginning with "i totally agree, but.."
ugh. move on.

People are not afraid of disagreement, hopefully that has been seen already. Why end the thread? Tack it to the top of the fucking board. Let this be a discussion that goes on and on and on so we can constantly improve things...
...don't be so scared of disagreement and discussion.
People are not afraid of discussion as can be seen by all the other topics and the pages on this thread alone.
Look at who is doing the majority of posting on this thread, look at where this thread is going. Nothing has been resolved.
We are still where we were when this thread began, a wonderful town with lots of oppurtunity.
Some may agree, some might not, but that is how I feel and nobody can change my mind on the matter.
I personally don't like drama, I allow it on here, but this becoming too much.
If anyone has any issues with me closing this thread, please feel free to PM me and I will be happy to discuss.
Message board?
