coaches floating around, and it seems like kerr is interviewing
every assistant coach from above 500 teams in the nba
avery johnson ---- not a chance
van gundy --- way too defense oriented
mark jackson --- HELL NO!
eddie johnson---- no thank you
dan marjele --- yeah wrong
that assistant dude in utah ---- nope
or that other guy who played with the lakers
in the '70s with the funky glasses --- who?
sounds like the best choice out there
is terry porter, i bet he gets the job.
needless to say d'antoni was better then any of those guys

what are you basing this on?
avery johnson has a much better win percentage. and he went to the NBA finals.
his team also beat the spurs, something d'antoni has never done.
now, i can see the argument that his coaching style would clash with the suns personnel.
but i don't think mike d'antoni is a very good coach, to be honest.
you don't really need to be if steve nash is your point guard.

best we can hope for is someone like mark jackson and an ex-Sun as a defensive coordinator/coach.

dallas was much better defensively with avery as the coach.
but you're right, neither d'antoni or avery make adjustments...ever.

Then again picking between Detroit and Boston is tough too...but in a good way because I like both teams...either one of those that win probably won't stand a chance against either LA or the Spurs...but here is to rooting for the underdog.
ps. the suns new coach should be ths guy:
if you can jump through a flaming hoop with out catching your suit on fire then you deserve to be coach...plus i don't think he would get many technical fouls as he really doesn't say much...
just a question...why hasn't there been any women NBA coaches yet? There are men coaches in the WNBA...so why not a woman coach...just a question?

I'm pulling a little for Boston at this point (The Suns and Hornets having been disposed of). A Celtics / Lakers match up would be neat, and probably more exciting than anything the Spurs could bring to the table.

That's a good question ...
Outside of the issues of sexism, whether just that there aren't any females in the assistant coach system anywhere in NBA or the d-league (is that true?) or the sexist notion that dudes wouldn't play or be coached effectively by a woman, I'm not sure.
It might actually be an issue of preference - maybe some women actually prefer coaching women's teams.
Men coaching in the WNBA might be because there's a lack of qualified women coaches. Whether that's just a (possibly wrong) perception or an actuality (accounting to the fact that some of the best female coaches might want to get into or remain in the college women's basketball system because of the support and stability that's there - there are parallels in the college men's basketball coaching game, too), that might be the reason.
It's kind of hard to tell what the exact reason is ...
As a sidenote, I used to love Wildcats with Goldie Hawn.

well, either boston or detroit will have homecourt. so, i don't think that makes them underdogs.
i think both of those teams would beat LA in the finals. the spurs...not so much.

I'm rooting for Boston, but that'll just clinch it for the Lakers...Basketball doesn't like me.
Hey, at least no matter what happens, it's not the Spurs again.
ditto 100%

home court doesn't necessarily = wins...well maybe for Boston since they couldn't win an away game hardly at all dring the playoffs...so for them homecourt was their advantage...I like Boston for the win because I think Garnet is awesome...but i think theLakers have momentum...either way...it should be a good classic game...minus Larry Bird and Magic squaring off.
final prediction...Lakers in seven

Reason #1 None of the "BIG 3" on the Celtics have much playing experience in the playoffs past the first round.
Reason #2 Kobe Bryant
Reason #3 Garnett can't handle pressure
Reason #4 Lakers haven't lost at home in the playoffs yet
Reason #5 I havent really seen the Big 3 play well consistently throughout the playoffs
