ahahaha, i think i have a recording of that. if you can pin down a date i'll know for sure. i have about 10 or 12 live sets by them, i seem to remember something like that.I saw Shellac play at the Knitting Factory in L.A. a few years ago. I don't know if you've ever seen them live or not, but they have a Q & A session during their shows. So I raise my hand and Albini points to me and I proceed to ask him what in retrospect was an absolutely fucking retarded question. I had been reading a lot of stuff about drummers using click tracks to record with, so I asked if Shellac used a click track during recording. The Knitting Factory has a floor level and a mezzanine level, which is where I was. Albini said," That's it; no more questions from the upper level. Thanks a lot asshole you just ruined it for everyone." And they really refused to take questions from the upper level for the rest of the show. It was actually really funny; although I did feel like a huge douche. In all fairness, it was kind of a douchebag question. So I've got that going for me, which is nice...What did you do to deserve that?
If you have a recording of that show, please post it. I'm not above demeaning myself. Seriously, it is funny even if at my expense. Something akin to shitting in one's breakfast cereal...

Indeed, Shawn. If you have it, it's your responsibility to share.

THANK YOU!!! I tried to defend myself on this for years, but finally gave up. I think the issue is that if you listen to Shellac you can probably just assume that they never use a click. At least that's my theory.

Steve Albini sounds like a total dickhead on that thread.
