but it's supported (in theory) by both parties and was recommended by the FED. and i didn't get my PhD in economics, so who knows. polling indicates that the majority of the people getting the money will spend it immediately, which could be a nice shot in the arm.
that said, i'm going to spend my allocation on whiskey.

last time around (when bush first took office) he gave out a rebate (i got $300). i bought a dvd player. now you can get dvd players for $30. probably not a smart move on my part, but i *did* get to see a lot of dvds in the meantime. should have gone with whiskey ... or hookers and blow...

And I will probably put half of it to make an overpayment on one of my many debts, and piss away the other half on cds, beer and video games, and all the good stuff that keeps me antisocial.

plus the rebate is tax money which is revenue from citizenry and corporations, so wouldn't that be a transfer of funds already generated from productivity?
it would be, but they are funds that would have otherwise gone into the government for use down the road. by rebating it to us, we spend it faster, thus "kickstarting" the economy. at least that's what they hope will happen.

seriously though...is this extra money in addition to what we were already supposed to get, or is it basically just a flat rebate for all?

-trunkspaceAll the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.
