so bush and lawmakers are going to give everyone a tax rebate averaging $800 for 'stimulation'

what are you going to do with your mad cash?????

I'll end up spending it on the increase in the property tax and home insurance.

perhaps you should instead spend it on a trip to china for some authentic cuisine?

just some food for thought.

WOOOOOOOO!

WASHINGTON—The Senate passed an economic rescue plan Thursday that would speed $600 to $1,200 in rebates to most taxpayers and $300 checks to low-income people, including disabled veterans and the elderly.

The 81-16 vote capped more than a week of political maneuvering that ended only when majority Democrats dropped their demand that the proposal offer jobless benefits, heating aid for the poor and tax breaks for certain industries.

GOP senators blocked those ideas, but agreed to add the rebates for older people and disabled veterans to a $161 billion measure the House passed last month.

House leaders said they would act as early as Thursday night to send the measure to President Bush.

The Senate plan would rush rebates -- $600 for individuals, $1,200 for couples -- to most taxpayers and cut business taxes in hopes of reviving the economy. Individuals making up to $75,000 a year and couples earning up to $150,000 would get rebates.

This is why our system fucking blows. "Yes, we will help the poeple, if at the same time we can fuck over the people."

It's cute that you think the system would do anything to help people that aren't in the system.

Got mine in the mail today!

While I had grand plans for it, I am simply going to convert it into beer, food and records when I go to Chicago in July.

We haven't gotten ours yet. The IRS website says the check will be mailed the first week of July. It'll pay for the A/C work we had done on our house.

All the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

If you got your tax return direct deposited like I did, you also got your nanny state money direct deposited. If you didn't get a tax return, then I don't know.

we got ours, now it goes to new tile in the bedrooms and dining room, yay home improvement!

and whats left goes to new installation, YAY! and if there is still some left then maybe fix some roting wood on the porch roof.

and then a crown for my back tooth that the dentist said is cracked in half from the old filling.

and that 3 story palm tree isn't going to trim itself.

yup if you owed taxes then they took it out of your "economic stimulus" check (although i like the name weiner gave it)...if you filed your own taxes like me then you might have got it in the mail rather than direct deposit...i used Turbo Tax and for some reason the gov decided to send me an actual check rather than directo deposito. but thats cool its deposited and soon to be spent stimulating the roof economy.

How will I receive it?

Most people will receive their rebates the same way they choose to receive refunds on their tax returns -- by direct deposit into their bank or other accounts, or by check in the mail.

If you haven't filed a return yet and you qualify for a rebate, you can select either method when you file.

Under certain circumstances, however, the IRS has decided that taxpayers can only get their rebates by mail, even if they get their refunds by direct deposit. At TurboTax, this will happen if you use a "refund transfer" when filing your 2007 return. This service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, under an agreement with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust .

The IRS also says that taxpayers who use "refund anticipation loans" or RALs (loans made to tax filers against their expected refunds) will also be unable to receive their rebates by direct deposit. TurboTax does not offer RALs.

The IRS reminds you, if you haven’t filed, that using direct deposit is the fastest way to get both your regular refund and your rebate.
