if all he needed was a body dead off island then brought back, shit then he could've had anyone on that island do it. I mean it seems pretty simple to manipulate anyone on that damn island when you are the smoke monster that can appear as anyone that is dead.

yeah, but the problem is that they're trapped on the island. so you can manipulate them however they want, but they have to get off the island (a feat that has been exceedingly difficult) to get the dead body and then bring it back. to an island that can't be found. smoke monster doesn't appear as anyone that's dead - it appears either as the monster or in the body of locke or christian or man in black, that's all we've seen. and we know specifically that they died off the island and were brought there.

I've done that. This season is the least amount of time I've ever put into thinking about this show, just enjoying letting it unfold no matter how ridiculous it gets. I mean, really? A cave with the light of the world? Fuck you. But whatever, show is still totally fun.

i just went and read the entire man in black entry on lostpedia because i'm probably going to think myself crazy.

anyways, he's also randomly appeared as other people. but it also states "According to Ilana in 2007, following Jacob's death, the Man in Black is now unable to use anything but his Locke and Monster forms."

so maybe he used to be able to do whatever, but now he's limited?

i think hurley legitimately sees dead people, because only he sees them. and i don't think anyone else has seen jacob since he died.

brother abel or adam (whatever his name is) saw his dead mother - why did it take all that time before that happened? So now we know why he wants to leave the island... he just wants to be where he should have been all along before the killing and lies. Yet, should we believe Jacob? I mean his reasoning is still clouded by death and lies. Does Jacob know the truth? And if he did, what's the whole thing about trying to keep smokey there? Is he a danger because he is smokey now and not a regular human? If he had been still human would he be ok to leave like Jacob can?

Hurley saw dead people on the island and after leaving the island but did he have that ability before island?

Ok, when did Smokey appear as Christian? And how do we know it was Smokey and not just a dead guy appearing to someone?

Last weeks was truly awesome. They should have built this momentum long ago. Shit is getting crazy.
