-trunkspaceAll the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

so, why did that lady kill jacob and able's mom? just because? smoke monster origin! yes wasn't sure that last night would top last week but word that was a good episode.
Because she thinks she's supposed to protect the island and saw an opportunity to grab an "heir" and took it.

that's my best guess and at this point we aren't going to get any more back story on them so I'm sticking with it.

Good job explaining who the bodies were that they found AND what the smoke monster is. And him being able to see dead people even before all of that. neat. wow.

and what's up w/ Claire? In season 1 that psychic was going on and on about SHE had to be the one to raise Aaron and nobody else. But that didn't happen? And now that kid is going to be not safe?
this show. argh!

ok, then by your reasoning, why Locke and not Jack's dad. His body was on the island after he died off island. Why did he need Locke's body now? Why not do of all this w/ Jack's dad's body? And the significance of his dad's shoes? Locke was wearing them when his dead body got back to the island.
and what's up w/ Claire? In season 1 that psychic was going on and on about SHE had to be the one to raise Aaron and nobody else. But that didn't happen? And now that kid is going to be not safe?

well, the only two people we've seen smokey manifest himself as have been christian and locke. if you wanted to get control of a group of people for whatever reason, why not just kill the leader (ben, for example) and pretend to be him? or literally any dead body on that island. i'm sure that would come in handy. but he's specifically taken bodies of people that were brought to the island.
so why locke and not christian shepherd? if i had to guess i'd say it's because more of the people on the island knew locke and would be familiar with him. so if your goal is to take control of the group, locke would probably be a better choice. where as with christian, the only person who knew him was jack. and claire. and they knew he was dead, so maybe that would have been too weird? i don't know. i'm theorizing. and i have no idea about the shoes. i'm guessing that's a loose end that will not be tied up. there's a lot of recurring themes/elements, and the shoes may be one of them.
i forgot about aaron. hmmmm. you know what, i change my bet from before. he's going to be the new protector, and i'm an idiot for not getting my facts straight earlier. i thought kwon was born on the island, but she wasn't. my bad. anyway, maybe if claire raises the baby then he doesn't become burdened with being the islands protector. but if it's raised by another, then maybe he saw that it would be part of the island forever. the parallels between jacob and aaron are pretty significant - pregnant mom arrives on island, baby born on island, raised by another. and if you want to get even deeper, you could further point out that they're both male, both raised by a female with questionable intentions and/or morals who have killed others, both were blond little boys.
but yeah, this show = argh!
also, i guess screw spoiler tags. you shouldn't be reading this thread if you haven't watched the show anyway, right?

if all he needed was a body dead off island then brought back, shit then he could've had anyone on that island do it. I mean it seems pretty simple to manipulate anyone on that damn island when you are the smoke monster that can appear as anyone that is dead.
and it still bothers me what happened to boy Ben. So freaking sad. Like he didn't have enough pain and longing for parental love to end up like that. When he rescued Syiad, he couldn't have befriended him and Ben could have turned out so different!
where did all the children go?!? They made a big deal about the others taking the children that come to the island then what? they vanish or go back to off island?
I really hate loose ends when the story is ending. ugh

so why locke and not christian shepherd?
because viewers have more of a investment with locke, focus group eh?
both raised by a female with questionable intentions and/or morals who have killed others, both were blond little boys.
yea but it was eluded that the lady who raised jacob and smokey favored smokey

on a side note:
Carlton and Damon are a great dynamic in person. Sitting in on their panel last year at comic con was one of the funnest. Hurley, Ben, Sawyer and Charlie were there too. SO neat.
