I hate the service at zpizza, but the fact that they'll deliver a soy cheese pie to my place makes it just enough to overlook.
Also I think ordering chipotle pesto officially makes me an elitist liberal.

anyway, i sort of inherited this ancient smoker/bbq from my grandpa and it's been taking up space for a few years. i never use it because i have a gas bbq which works perfectly, and i never wanted to mess with charcoal and all the prehistoric bullshit. anyway, i got a hankering for some smoked baby back ribs and decided i'd clean the thing out and try to use it instead of the much more convenient smoker box for my stove/gas grill. it's a total pain in the ass, because it doesn't have air vents and it's really tricky to control the temperature, but i finally got a good fire going and was ready to heat up my ribs. the problem: the wood chips i use for my other smoke boxes isn't really appropriate for this smoker. i use little tiny wood shavings, and this contraption required much bigger chunks of wood to be even remotely effective. i didn't have big chunks of wood, and i had a fire going and my ribs were ready - i didn't really have time to go shopping for wood hunks.
but i DO have a plethora of broken drumsticks sitting in a pile in our rehearsal room. and those drumsticks are made of hickory.
so i had hickory drumstick smoked baby back ribs.

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.

yes, the cookies had bacon in them. got the recipe from cowboy ciao. they were subtle, not very 'porky', but quite good. you could taste the salt and the smokiness more than anything else. my dad made ice cream to go with them, but it didn't freeze up, so it was more like a cookie dipping sauce. it was bourbon cherry ice cream. i think the bourbon made it not freeze.
