does 'but' negate everything stated before it? OR is it used as a contrasting transitional phrase?

as a whole.
when a top story is what the first lady is wearing at the grand canyon and it's reported with shock... give me a flippin' break.

"Andrew Jackson Jihad are just phenomenal... just acoustic guitar and stand up bass... they're going to be huge. They are doing so well right now in the underground."

weird, i loved the first pennywise resord, not too stoked on anything else they ever did. (even the 7" inches are pretty bad)
"were the ones, only ones, now ones, we live for today those for the past and tomorrow they shall have hell to pay!"
that shit was so fast, i remember seeing dudes do back flips off the giant speakers at the gothic theater and right before they hit the crowd they would open up and every one would catch them.
plus the mosh pit where everyone was "bro's" so if you fell the guy behind you you would pick you up before you hit the ground
UNITY!
-trunkspaceAll the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

currently thinking that drinking until the minute the bar closed last night, sleeping 3 hours, then going to work may have not been the greatest idea.
it certainly wasn't the worst idea, either.
a nap is probably in order after work.
or more drinking.

that's typically the solution.
when i'm this tired i either take a nap when i get home or start drinking.
i almost never take a nap though.
