and, jacki, listen to NKOTB now. do you really think you missed out? i shunned depeche mode when i was in highschool, and man, all the good looking/interesting/smart girls sure liked depeche mode. now i can't imagine life without them. and i didn't get laid till after highschool. maybe if i liked them, i still wouldn't have... but maybe not.

I thought GI Joe was lamesauce.
Voltron, w/ the lions, was way better. I would rush home from school to watch me some Voltron, He-Man and Thundercats.

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.

p.s. weird al rulz 4eva.
We had UNNAMED BAND @ Trunk Space a couple years ago, the date Weird Al played the state fair, and no one came to see them.
Actual exchange:
Me: "So Weird Al is playing the state fair tonight, and we think that's actually going to hurt turnout."
Guy from UNNAMED BAD (who was also in a much bigger band) whispering to other band member: "I . . . I can't tell if he's serious or joking."
Girl in UNNAMED BAND: Horrified shurg.
Me: "No, seriously, I'm not kidding, he's got a huge following in the indie scene, and he doesn't come through AZ much."
Guy from UNNAMED BAD (who was also in a much bigger band): "I just can't believe that."
= 5 paying customers.
We warned them it would happen, but they didn't believe us.
Now they won't book TS, as if we had something to do with it.
Never underestimate the power of AL.
Dude's career is set to eclipse Micheal Jackson, who'da thunk that 25 years ago?

Yea, I saw him play in Buffalo, in this awesome old theater.
Did like 10 costume changes and 3 or 4 onchores.
Absolutely stellar.
Someone should get their Doctorate in Al.

I saw that somebody posted a Goonies link and it made me think of this. I have never seen the movie all the way through and am still not 100% sure what it's about as I've just seen bits and pieces. I always get "oh my goodness, how could you not have seen that" and whatnot.
it's about our time down here. up there it's their time, but down here it's our time, our time down here!
-trunkspaceAll the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.
