[Hooray For Everything]

I think it's okay to say who you like, AND who you don't like.....Is a person not supposed to express their opinion about someone, just because they are a local musician? That's silly.

My thing has always been that I have felt, that perhaps, we tend to support WHO we like, as opposed to WHAT we like....and that, maybe, we are not even interested in projects by individuals who we don't feel positively about, or individuals that we don't know....and, maybe, that's how it seem a bit clique-y to people.

For anyone out there who has made the mistake of meeting their heroes, you know that sometimes they are not the nicest people...

It sucks to sometimes have to make a decision between good art & nice people...

Man, my friends are jerks, but when they shut up, they sure do make some nice music....

Maybe that's the difference between local bands & the one's whose albums we listen to all the way through....we don't have to hang out with the 'national ones' so we don't know, or care, if they are jerks....

I go to see music I like, regardless whether of not I like the people, when I have the time & the money, and that's all I could ask of anyone, really.

There is tooooo much good music to go see in Phoenix......

Every time I come back I see the same bands playing the same songs to ignorant kids (all 5 of them) with tight black pants and their arms crossed.

i don't even know what this means. but i don't like LA, so i'm not too worried about it.

Unfortunately the Shizz furthers this elitism. Ever try to put your band's or a friend's bands' date on their calendar? If they're not "Shizz approved" they won't be approved for the calendar. Why aren't ALL Phoenix bands supported by the Shizz? Donald? Anyone?

typically, i wouldn't even respond to trolling like this. but some of you might be reading this and thinking "yeah, how come it works like that?". well, i can't speak for everyone involved with the shizz, but i can give you my opinion. first, we do our best to support as many bands as possible. calendar access isn't open to everyone mostly because it's an administrative pain in the ass. everyone who "works" for the shizz does it for free, so we try to keep things as simple as possible. if you want a show listed and you can't update the calendar, just ask. i have never seen a request like that get ignored. but don't assume that because we have some level of control on this website that we don't want to support others. that would be ignorant.

why aren't all bands shizz approved? contrary to popular belief, it's not because we're elitists or because we think you suck. it's because there are a shitload of bands out there, and the bands you see on the front page - the "approved" bands - are bands that have been part of the shizz online community or have been active in helping us promote other bands. they're not paying us, they're not necessarily friends or insiders, but they are part of the community/scene/whatever you want to call it.

want to get your band on the front page? the fastest way to get ignored is to bitch about not being on the front page.

the goal of the shizz is to promote local music, art, and culture. one of the best ways we can do that is to showcase some of the artists and performers that have helped us do that. we're not a clique or a social club. if you want to get involved, then get involved. if you want an unfiltered directory of every band in phoenix, or open listings of every show that ever takes place, then go to craigslist.

what about when you dont want your bands name on the front page but it is?

my middle finger on my right hand went numb a couple hours ago and it wont wake up.

I guess, you or a representative of your band would need to send an email to the administrator of the website that you want a link of your band removed. Just like how a representative from your band had asked to be be added to theshizz years ago.


Eluding to something doesn't make it happen, although I do wish that was how things worked in the real world

the Shizz hasn't, usually, been that into the mellowish-country thing...But their are wonderful exceptions to that....Rum Tenor, Nowhere Man & a Whiskey Girl, Lonna Kelley..and I had a lovely talk a few months ago with Donald about doing a Shizz Roots/Americana fest.....

Also want to add that this sounds awesome. Even though I have nothing to do with Phoenix and live across the country, the Shizz was pretty instrumental in opening my ears to Americana sort of stuff. Now I am into all sorts of Americana/country stuff. It might have happened otherwise, but either through "The Shizz Presents... This" or other bands mentioned here from time to time, I've become indulged in music that 10 years ago I would have called "fucking shit".

youre eluding. come now, i may have posted amucho much in my previous life on this bit, me posts and nosense nonsense were/are very very annoying too, but i dont think i ever asked. i do remember getting alot of congrats from everyone just like i was initiated into some very special club. i do think i should also lose my representative powers for colorstore. ive tryed to convince jef he needs to be that guy, or actually devine would be good at it too.

It is true, you didn't ask to be on, someone else from your band did.

I really don't know what you want mark, I am not trying to elude to anything. I am saying, ask for what you want, and right now I really don't know if you are kidding and trying to confuse me, or if you really don't want to be on the shizz and are afraid to actually say it. Maybe you aren't trying to do either and I am completely off base.
