Until Yucca Jr. and...what else? can kick the ass of Trunk Space and everything else that's fun on Grand Avenue, Tempe can kiss my ass. There's also a good time to be had at the Lost Leaf and Conspire many nights.

there will always be a so called "rivalry" so that the newtimes will have something to write about and we have something to read and talk about.


I say GOOD for the Yucca Tap Room. When I was younger and lived in Tempe, I went to shows at the Lucky Dragon, Gibson's, Nita's, Long Wong's, but I still trekked out to the Modified too.

There is no Winner, and there is no Loser. If there is a good show, people will go to it, no matter where it is.

With ASU campus in the downtown phoenix we have seen a surge in the downtown area that is most noticable at first fridays. It is also noticed at Trunkspace and other downtown places. I think its about time an all ages venue pops up in Tempe it's been needed for quite awhile for all the Tempe ASU kids.

If we all start beleiving that the "Snooze" Times has the final word on what is the haps in Valley then we might as well pack it in and retire...I kind of wish there was more competition in the "local" news rags...and the College times doesn't count...just so that people don't automatically turn to the New Times for 'What's hip and Hot' in the valley...I take the opinions of shizz members any day over some hack journalist from a free weekly.

why does it have to be tempe vs phoenix? why cant we appreciate both. sure I love Phoenix but tempe is my home and its where all my first ever shows were. I think this news might actually be good for a ton of people, trunkspace might get a little more action, modified might make some skrilla off of some frosted tips douche on first fridays, yucca will finally become the venue it always should have been, and bands have a choice of phoenix AND tempe. I say don't worry, everything will be just fine

It also matters a lot what you're into. I haven't played at/been to a show at modified in years, I have no idea what goes on there. The Yucca will hurt Phoenix in that bigger all ages shows typically at the phix will likely be in Tempe now, but good. The Phix sucks (thanks for ruining Trap Them for me). Places like Trunkspace will continue to do well though, I'm sure.

YEA! i am not very psyched on shows at the Phix.

Really, what is the difference between Tempe and Phoenix as far as shows, they are a couple strip malls and a freeway ride away from each other, and most people have to commute across the valley to go to shows anyway, Its the VALLEY music scene. Too bad Tempe and Downtown Phoenix aren't sperated by industrial plaza's and an airport, but they are. Like Mikey said, you go where the show is.
