anyone who says 'rock is dead'.
that's fucking hilarious.
define what would make a band
'relevant', and i'll see if i can name
some bands for you.
people have been saying this
and other same ol shit forever.

Dear Mr. Hands,
How about this-- I'd rather you go on with your life believing there is nothing good worth listening to. have fun!

completely subjective,
rendering this conversation
useless on a general scale,
but if you want to know what
i would consider some 'relevant'
'rock' bands today...
the fucking champs
the paper chase
oxes
ween
fugazi
queens of the stone age
millionaire
autolux
repellent
plus lots others.
not to mention a slew
of local bands that i
will avoid mentioning
so as not to make anyone
blush.
sounds like you either just can't find any
music you like or you can't get inspired anymore,
if you agree with that article. either way = sad.

Is Rock dead? No. There are plenty of people who are still into Rock... all the fans of Staind, Linkin Park, Default, Puddle of Mudd...
So, okay, this isn't the kind of Rock YOU like, Manos. Hell, probably NOBODY on this board likes that stuff. But somebody's buying it, so Rock's not dead.
Is there a saddening lack of originality in popular music? Are we having a hard time finding things we like on the radio and on TV. Well, yeah. I think that's why most of us got into independent music in the first place.
So, the real question is, "Is there good music left?" Of course! You may have to search high and low, but it's around.
Maybe another question is, "Is rebellion, nonconformists outside of the mainstream, and youth culture still a viable threat?" Hmm... I'm 25, I don't know if I qualify as "youth" anymore, but.... yeah, all that stuff could still be a threat to the status quo. But I don't know if that's really OUR fight anymore, we'll have to wait and see what the young'uns are capable of.

Are you responsible for bloodying this mystery poster's hands? He/She really seems to have it in for you.
I can post the most innocuous thing, and I get laid into like I'm a nail dodging the hammer.

1 - It can make a 10 year old jump around like mad
2 - It critiques our culture/society as it tries to reshape it for better and worse
3- Its ingrained with a healthy streak of piss off/rock the boat attitude that makes the the sedate members of the world cringe

hmm, i don't know, why don't
you tell me, considering you're
the whiney emo defeatist.
here, you want some rock lyrics?
how about why don't you stop
crying anonymously on a message
board and do something about a
situation that you feel sucks?
or just shut the hell up.
