as for what you are 'doing' making you seem like elitist assholes, what do you even mean? what i meant was that you seem to take opinions that differ from your own and calling them lame because they don't jive with your own. the elitist part comes from the seeming distaste some people here seem to have for people they don't know. ( i saw it mentioned by a couple people that whoever it was that started this thread was 'anonymous'. i take that to mean they don't know this person). i would like to think a community like i thought this one was supposed to be like would be more open to new people who want to put their 2cents in on a subject instead of right off the bat calling them 'a stupid dumb bitch douchebag asshole'. if you mean something else by what you are 'doing', then it's mixed signals.
do i think rock is on life support? at this point, so much stuff is derivative. people like what they're gonna like. it's not in the sales, it's not in stuff like that. when you have songs by modest mouse and the buzzcocks in car commercials, i'd say the impact rock is having today is less than before. look at the 'revival' bands (and i refuse to mention the strokes due to overkill). that is what people like right now as far as
'rock'. remember when you listened to stuff that disgusted your parents? now the parents sing along. it's not really rock as a genre that is dying, it's what rock has stood for. there are still good bands and (hopefully) always will be, but the MO behind it ... totally different.
but that's only if you go by a stupid dumb bitch douchebag asshole.

ok ok , so do you believe rock is in fact on life support?
Actually, it was rock is dead. Kaput as the social harbinger it once was. Now just nice noise but culturally static.

raub made that post? don't make me
spell it out.
everyone i know is willing to argue
strongly for what they believe in,
no matter if it's with a close friend
or a new person.
summary of this thread, and tell me
if this is wrong -
hands dude came on voicing opinion.
several people try to get him to DEFINE what he means.
hands dude unable to do so.
several people voice counter opinions and even NAME bands that counter said opinion.
hands dude gets flip when told that someone (me) disagrees with his opinion but he's entitled to it.
i tell him to shut up. if that makes me elitist, then again that's your opinion. i'm no elitist.
hands continues to try to insult people to make point.
did i miss anything or was anything
wrong? if so let me know. you can
pm me if you don't want to continue
this on the msg board.
most of the people on this board are
doing their parts, however small or big,
to make sure rock doesn't die. negative
posts from mr hands dude don't do anyone
any good.

and i'd give it another 5-10 years (depending on how clued in the "kids" are) before we hear a lighning bolt song on a mcdonalds commercial and or car commercial.
and by that time don't ya think a "rock band" may have evolved from where we are today?
maybe think about your knowledge of contemporary "rock", just because you don't know about or are not informed of current rock outfits that happen be "rock" and popular on the underground level right now dosen't mean they don't exist. bam now who seems to be the elitist
ME ME ME WHO WANTS TRIDENT I DO DO (did you think i was calling you an elitist be honest.)

And if you want to go off about how popular music sucks and youre not into it , just remember all those great "classic" bands thrown in my face. They were popular , relevant and foward thinking.
So know you can go back Missy Burke and list me some more bands me and 20 other people go see.
Keep us those big emo smiles kids. Negativity not allowed.

and there is nothing wrong with liking the strokes, even thought they were handed everything in with a siliverspoon, in my opinion, the first record was solid, haven't bother to listen o the new one yet though
