power inverter is in the screen half and usually right below the screen. chad
what kind of inspiron is it?

i think i bought mine (i think, it was years ago) from here

Chad if you get the parts or if you just want me to check connections bring it on by. I've replaced a few dell screens in my time and know how to take it apart. And I'll do it for just one doughnut : )

i actually just got it back from the repair place. It WAS the backlight, but it was cheaper to just buy a used screen and have them switch it out. 120 bones, not bad. Thanks for the offer, though. I'll bring you a donut just for bein you.

Ah man I wish I saw this thread sooner, but if you only paid $120 for a used but good LCD screen installed for $120, I think that is a very fair price. Brand new LCDs for 1520s run between $100-$120 alone. And used working 1520 laptops still go for $250-$300 on the low side on ebay and craigslist.
