I've been in Tempe for years and Mill has always been like this. I live only a few blocks away and worked on mill for a few months and have never had any issues with it. Areas like that bring in a lot of money to the city and are pretty easy to avoid.

Twenty years ago Mill was very different. Almost all the businesses and shops were local. You could just start walking at the Jack in the Box and look for a band that you liked at Long Wong's, Edsel's Attic, Chuy's, or even a couple hotels and restaurants. I played Long Wong's every Wednesday for a chunk of 1994. Good times. They won't be back.
