it's kinda sad that we
live in a time when it
is so male dominated,
but it is getting better.
i do wish i lived when
it was even, tho.

i read that article. i was never too into the peeps either. i saw them a couple times, ... eh. what i found interesting in that article was how, for one, they asked how hell on heels are different from the donnas and they claim they're prettier than the donnas, etc... then, like, a breath later, they go on about how they dislike bands like babes in toyland and the lunachicks cause they get by on just being girls and 'not very good looking girls' and how they at least are more about the SONGS which are apparantly about (according to them) makeup, each other, other girls looking at their boys, etc... i could go on, but why? for people claiming not to be 'getting by' on their looks, etc... one look and one read of that article and all the only word that springs to mind is 'gimmick'.
yeah, bomp! and estrus AND sympathy for the record industry.
hmmm... maybe there's room for the budget sinatra out there after all.
ben and donald are all about the 'image'.

in defense of Paula from hell on heels
i used to live next door to her and she
practices her guitar all the time.

i don't think they wear makeup for practice. :o

my thoughts exactly

i thought it was especially funny when the guy from bomp was all "they were really nice people and friendly"

well duh, if the guy from bomp wanted my band on his label i'd be pretty nice and friendly too.

i've met those girls or at least the peeps a few times at the cannery row (rip) and they were not nice at all, in fact mean and stuck up comes to mind,

but i guess thats the "attitude" part of their schtick

All the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

i don't know if the hell on hells girls are nice, mean or indifferent. i've never had any contact with them, so i couldn't say. we both played at the rebirth festival, but they weren't around for our set and we weren't around for theirs.
if you have a schtick, cop to it and have fun with it. that's the point of having a schtick in the first place, isn't it? i wouldn't want to have someone saying i only get by being in my band because i'm a girl. even if it were true (yikes). as has been pointed out, there are few enough women playing music in this town. instead of an 'i'm better than you' attitude, why not show a little comraderie? and that goes for everyone, man, woman, beast.
i practice my guitar, too. and i might just wear make up to do it. how about that?

maybe i shouldn't say that stuff, though. the budget sinatra hasn't graced the front cover of the new times.
yet.

i am a firm believer that anyone that wants to rock should do so.

i guess what i'm complaining about is redundancy so yea, i have changed topics, and am a big whiner,

Oh yeah, I liked when dude was talking about how Hell on Heels were pretty but the Donnas weren't...look at the picture on the cover! They looked like stoned prostitutes!!! I don't think that's pretty. I'm glad all girls in bands don't feel like they have to dress like hookers.

You don't need anything more than a white t-shirt,
or so I've heard. The rest is unimportant.

seriously bomp is cool label and all .... but then what? it's not like bomp is going to be able to propel them to a level of the donnas. i thought the article was a little over optimistic about how they were poised to be stars. i've never heard them....i did hear the peeps & though they were long on glam and slop. but hey do what you like, right?

if they still sound like the peeps, i don't see them going real far.

A friend of mine said he saw Hell on Heels and said they were not as bad as the Peeps. But still, you know, trash.
