I don't know what part of Michigan you're from, but Detroit was Dilla's stomping ground (even if he did the bulk of his later work in L.A.). There are a lot of cats that worked with Dilla that are still there. I think DJ Houseshoes still holds down some dj nights here and there.

yeah, i actually go to school in clinton twp., which is where j dilla was living towards the end of his life.
black milk just released a new album. i need to check that out.

New Order - Substance
New Order - Power Corruption & Lies
Joy Division - Closer
Happy Mondays - Pills Thrills & Bellyaches
Stone Roses - S/T

Can you tell I recently watched 24 Hour Party People?

ps. having seen that movie, I am now very much looking forward to watching the Happy Mondays at Coachella, and seeing the potential spectacle/disaster that is Shawn Ryder.

Such a great movie.

Neurosis ~ Sovereign

An EP that represents them at their best, in my opinion. I think I've listened to it about 10 times on repeat in my car, but then, I'm kinda batshit like that.

thin lizzy - bad reputation
tori amos - little earthquakes
j. mascis and the fog - more light

the mascis album should really be up there in terms of worst cover art. its a decent album, but man, that cover is painful.

this is a 2000 album, so why does it look so painfully low budget early 90's?

Maybe he was trying to make the artwork match the Dinosaur Jr. sneakers.
