Oh well. At least I've got Pig Destroyer. :P

I think that's a line in a Casablanca remake.

EDIT: That was 2000. Way to blow it.

picked up the new Arcade Fire album today... it's uh... very bleak

<edit> it gets a little less bleak towards the middle, ok.

Stars of the Lid - And their refinement of the Decline
Cocteau Twins - Four Calendar Cafe
Trail of the Dead - S/T (I don't understand how a band can start out this good, and end up being such crap)

I'm on the fence about this album. I really miss the urgency of the first album, like the yelping background vocals of Neighborhood #2 or the "HEY!" right before the band fully rocks out in Une Annee Sans Lumiere. It's almost like the new one is too pretty or something.

i just got back from the record store. i haven't actually purchased records in a very long time, so this is rad. unfortunately, i can't listen to my record player until i make some new cables and get my mixer back. shit.

anyway, i decided to buy some stuff i haven't really heard. i've heard maybe half of two of the albums i've heard, and the other two i just bought on total impulse.

they are:

rachel's - the sea and the bells
explosions in the sky - all of a sudden i miss everyone
nation of ulysses - 13 point plan to destroy america
crime in choir - trumpery metier

hopefully i'll be currently listening to them soon.

i've heard the other crime in choir albums, but not this one.

but this one has tim soete drumming, and was recorded by tim green.

2 out of 3 champs involved in a record pretty much means it has to be good, right?

i've been listening to bear claw's 'find the sun' pretty consistently since i first discovered it in october.

i'm still not tired of it.

there aren't many albums that have this effect on me.
