The wonders of Myspace informed me of new Mae Shi material.

Few people care, cuz I guess it's astonishing to actually like them, but those of us who are stupid enough to should look here for a couple of great new songs.

Last night I listened to Kill 'Em All on the way home. I really, really wish someone was with me who could've appreciated hearing that album as much as I did during that drive.

So the record store I go to was sold out of Jesu, and didn't carry Do Make Say Think or Deerhunter.

Needless to say, I was pretty pissed, as those three were the reason I went.

So I decided to funnel that rage by listening to various subgenres of metal.

Truthfully, though, I just wanted to get those first three. Dammit.

I didn't have high hopes for it, even with Johnny Marr. Which reminds me:

I don't mind the single....

I think the single is probably the best song. The album alternates between feeling like Irish Folk and a "middle aged" band to me. I think Marr's contributions to the songs get in the way of what makes me love Modest Mouse.

EDIT: I hate to say the old cliche, but it kind of has a "mainstream" feel to me. Yeah yeah, Float On was huge, but it was huge while still sounding completely like Modest Mouse.
