white noise ~ an electric storm

I've been curious about that one.

now listening to:

jim o'rourke ~ eureka

The closest comparison I can seem to dig up is if Zappa did krautrock, and occasionally teetered into Stereolab territory.

It's really fucking bizarre. But impressive.

You've mentioned O'Rourke a few times now. Are you primarily listening to his pop stuff or his experimental stuff (tape splicing, ambient, etc)?

Eric Copeland ~ Hermaphrodite
Von Sudenfed ~ Tromatic Reflexxions

In spite of his assholeitude, Mark E Smith makes some really impressive stuff.

the O'Rourke album I was listening to is more on the pop side of things. I haven't really heard is experimental stuff. I think he used to be in a band called Gastr del Sol that was more experimental.

white noise: if i remember right that was made up of members from the bbc radiophonic workshop. interesting stuff--check out trunkrecords (the uk label) as they've issued some of that bbc radiophonic workshop music. i have the disc from the tomorrow people soundtrack & really like it.

Yeah, I'm quite familiar with GdS, among other Jim O'Rourke projects.

I was just curious because I bought "Insignificance" a couple of years ago and found myself quite taken aback by how different it sounded from evverything else he had done.

And my favorite Gastr del Sol record is The Serpentine Similar. :)
