I wish more people thought like that. However, many, many, people believe very much in that continous state of orgasm provided by expensive material goods. It's the American Dream.

Right now they have signs on the norhtbound I-10 that say NO PARKING. seriously, are they worried that people would park on the interstate, hop the fence, and then climb back over with a contempory kitchen set or a his and hers love seat? I mean, I know this is a 'red state', but come on...

I've never actually shopped at an IKEA but I must say I am excited to go shopping there. I was sent there by my illustrious job (the Trib) to do a story the Sunday before it opened. I interviewed the guy who was first in line and who won about $1,600 worth of IKEA stuff. He was there for eight days and was sick and tired of being interviewed. Then I interviewed the guy who was second in line and really wanted to go home but his wife wanted him to stay. He got a free $99 armchair. Then I interviewed one of the five people chosen to live outside IKEA for three days in IKEA bedrooms for all to see. Not only did they get to take home everything in their bedrooms, they also got a $2,000 IKEA gift card. I also interviewed one of the many IKEA PIOs hanging around. She was about 5 feet tall and sucked me in with all her IKEA talk. What a great marketing scheme! Then she gave me the press packet and my very own IKEA catalog in a cool IKEA water jug that kind of reminds me of an elephant with his trunk up in the air. I'm convinced IKEA is a very addicting drug. I even considered shopping at IKEA the first day, but I'm glad I didn't. What's so bad about inexpensive, cool-looking home furnishings and meatball meals, though? Anything is better than Wal-Mart.

Is Ikea worth people getting in pretty nasty traffic accidents?

Absolutely!!!

The IKEA vision is to create a better everyday life for many people.
We make this possible by offering a wide range of well-designed,
functional home furnishings products at prices so low that as many
people as possible will be able to afford them.

Don't miss the IKEA Veterans Day Event!

It's like a five-day shopping decathlon!!!

My Mother said that they have built or are in the process of building a Costco furnishings store(which is also wildly popular) very close to IKEA. So IKEA shouldn't be blamed for poor city planning should they?

That one is open now. It's in that spot that used to be Home Base a few years back, over near guitar center. We went to Petsmart the other day and the parking lot was ultra-packed, I didn't understand why, and then I saw that place.

I can't complain about IKEA, it is all I can afford. I needed stuff to sit on and eat off of. My alternative was wal-mart.

I like expensive non-sweat shop goods as much as the next guy, but when you are broke, you don't have much of a choice.
