#1165257 Mark Erickson. what happened.

Posted by eraser on 05 September 2012 - 03:28 PM

I just learned about Mark's passing today.

I didn't really know him, but I loved watching Colorstore perform, especially witnessing Mark get lost in the music.

This is a huge, sad loss.

There is a memorial service on Friday @ 6pm at the First Baptist Church of Scottsdale, 7025 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251
https://www.facebook...77102635759212/

You can also donate to benefit Mark's two kids:

(Via Colorstore's FB page)

Thank you so much to everyone who has expressed their concern over the loss of Mark. Many friends have asked what they can do to help so we have opened a donation account at Bank of America. All donations will be split between Mark's beautiful children, Sophie and Jack. You can donate in three ways:

1. PayPal donations to otherjef@yahoo.com
2. Visit a B of A branch and donate to account #457026553236
3. If you'd prefer to send a check or money order, please contact Jef at otherjef@yahoo.com for a mailing address

*Please note that we prefer no wires, as they do cause a fee for the account. The account number is for direct contact with Bank of America. If you have any trouble, please let us know.

Thanks again everyone for your support -- it has truly helped us all.

#1084796 On Your Last Legs

Sorry to hear about your situation, man.

My list of things to do

- Swimming

- Get a full body massage, especially the legs (In addition to probably feeling good, I imagine that such a surgery might probably affect sensation in your legs - I have no idea).

- Borrow or rent a Segway

- Go on a short roadtrip with a friend

- Pick up the babies and toddlers in your family/extended family and fly them around like airplanes

Thanks for the shout out, J!

We're pretty excited!

Also, there were a lot of great picks this year.

They included Pool Boy Magazine as Best Dirty 'Zine! Hooray!

(You can see Jacki tell stories in our Neighborhood improv show this Saturday @ 830pm! http://j.mp/torchhood)

#943460 Net Neutrality and Music

Posted by eraser on 01 September 2010 - 01:58 AM

the great thing is, no matter what they do to try and control it, people will find a way around it...

Yes and no.

I think that people's creativity and ingenuity eventually topples the status quo that's imposed, but, that said, having Net Neutrality defeated would pretty crappy. The actual infrastructure being set up to favor the whims of corporate giants?

That's like the frustration of wanting Phoenix to be more walkable and bikeable, but knowing just how car-oriented the entire valley is. There are only so many ways to try to get around that fact.

Here's the email that I sent:

Hi there, _____!

This is Jose Gonzalez from Dangerville.

You recently contacted us via our MySpace page about performing at the Rhythm Room on Thursday, June 3rd! So, sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Things have just been super-busy.

It sounds awesome, though!

Before we entirely commit, though, I just wanted to be clear on the terms of performance.

Generally, for 15 minutes of performance, our going rate is $250, for 30 minutes - $450, and for 60 minutes is $850. If there is a cut of the door that is to be received, assuming we've been compensated appropriately, we generally distribute our cut amongst the other bands that are performing.

Also, we recently sold our pilot, "Light After Dark" to BET / Viacom. We're really excited about it!

"Light After Dark" is a weekly showcase of non-African-American musicians and performers and it will be airing afterhours on BET in the fall.

All that is to say that Viacom would actually own broadcast rights (across tv, web, radio, print or video text messaging) of any film and video of our performance and any repurposing of the footage. It actually might be possible to feature some of the other bands that might be performing, too!

So, I hope all that is cool.

Could you send me your fax number so that our legal team can send you the paper work?

Thanks so much!

- jose
