Was the Bernie the inspiration for the Harlem Drop or whatever that awful thing is called?

no. for one, the Harlem Shake seems to mostly be a white people kind of thing.

It's a white people bastardization of a black people thing from the early 80s.

This would probably be closer to the real Harlem Shake:

Some releases by Steve Moore (of Zombi) and other really good electronic artists in a similar vein.

Masa + Mune was always the first "hard" boss battle to me. Makes sense, that's the first time they bust out the "epic" boss theme right? It always felt really refreshing that you had to be that much more on your toes fighting him/them.

#1149614 Help me win a spot playing Lollapalooza?

Posted by Naz on 28 June 2012 - 08:43 AM

Thanks guys. my internet time is pretty limited these days otherwise I'd be around more.
Basically get zero internet time at work, then going to a ton of shows all the time. Basically the only internet time I get is what I can do on my phone in a few minutes waiting for public transportation. ha!
The music stuff is gradually panning out for me, but damn is it soaking up all my free time.
And damn have I taken drinking to the next level.
At the very least, I need to make it out to a shizz event soon.

This is a good mix I did recently, I mixed the first half, my friend mixed the second half. Mostly more popular indy leaning stuff, I managed to get LCD soundsystem, Prince, Talking Heads, Radiohead, and Arcade Fire to all blend together, and I think it turned out well

#1149444 Help me win a spot playing Lollapalooza?

Posted by Naz on 27 June 2012 - 01:37 PM

Hey there shizz buddies. I know it's been an age and a half. miss you guys much.

Even though I've shifted to more of a reader than a contributor, I'm hoping I can ask you all for a favor.

I'm trying to win a spot playing Lollapalooza in Chicago. It's a pretty big music festival.

They had us all remix a song for the contest, and the best remixes go onto the next round.

Problem is, it's also partially determined by popular vote.

So I'm hoping I can convince some of you guys to go vote of me so I have a better chance to move to the next round. (Unfortunately, you do have to register for the site to vote, I guess so people can't spam votes.)
If any of you help me out with votes, you can vote once per day for the next three days. I'll be pretty happy if I can break into the top 10.

Or just check out my remix and let me know what you think. I'm rather happy with it, and it represents a marked improvement over some of my Dwelling of Duels productions that many of you have heard before.

Here's the link:

thanks a bunch for listening.

oh yeah, you can listen to some other stuff I'm doing these days over here (Mostly DJ mix tapes from shows I've played recently):

Posted by Naz on 28 March 2012 - 10:19 AM

I couldn't find a PAX east thread, but my friend Chess will be DJing the rockstar booth several hours each day. Honestly one of my favorite people in the Chicago dance music scene. Plays a lot of really crunchy stuff. Tell her I sent you.

Miss the shit out of you guys, sorry I haven't been around the board more.

Some of you may know that I've taken up DJing in recent years, some of you may have seen me play some music at Shizz events. I've recently been getting some pretty regular gigs in Chicago, and I'd like to start sharing some of these cool mixtapes I've been making with all you guys.

#1070185 Naz DJs disco

Posted by Naz on 10 August 2011 - 07:47 AM

So some of you know that I've been trying to get my feet wet DJing in the big city. Well I fInally scored a pretty big club gig here in Chicago Sunday August 21st.

I'm going to play an all Vinyl set of Disco/House/Edits/Whatever for this night called "Dollar Disco."
If you're near the city, definitely try to come out. SmartBar has probably the best soundsystem of any club in the city, and they're cutting me a big break by letting me play.

If you want to check out and get an idea of what I'll be playing, click on this fun little link that'll take you to the demo mixtape we put together for the gig:
