We all realize that I din't write that, nor does it represent my feelings...

I really couldn't give a shit either way...

I know some of the Shizz folks are into the R O C K, so I thought I'd share...

Hold on there, HFE. Just because I wanted to share my counterpoint on the review you posted doesn't mean I was indicting you for posting it. Not everything is a personal attack directed at you.

OK, I am now adding to my post a couple more thoughts I had. Again, HFE, this is not directed at you. These are just comments.

Anyway, the guy didn't review the box set. He reviewed his emotions towards the box set. He's one of those people that would probably buy an hour-long CD of Kurt Cobain shitting compiled from a secret toilet-mic in 1992 in a Paris hotel. And he'd think it was great, too. He's into idolizing and worshipping. Not the music, the image.

I thought as a service to the other shizzites I would post an opinion from a different perspective so they could make a decision based on more than one opinion, and based on their own level of emotional investment in Nirvana.

Just out of curiousity, where did the review come from? I know it wasn't pitchfork because they only gave it a 6.8 or something. I would actually go so far as to say that Pitchfork gave it a lower score because it's too trendy/hip/cool to like Nirvana.

I hate Pitchfork reviews for the same reason I hate this review, it simply isn't a review.

Jomama -
That was funny, I needed that...

I know it's not about me...I just wanted to make it clear that the review had nothing to do with my own personal feelings...

it was from the Aquarious Records website...

See, everyone loves Nirvana. Everyone. Those of you who say you don't are just trying to be c'ool'. Sort of like the people who talk about how the Beatles suck. The Beatles did not suck. They wrote more perfect pop songs than any band in the history of rock and roll. Nirvana also don't suck. And are also responsible for some of the best songs ever. It's not cool to pretend you don't like Nirvana. Not at all. In fact, it's unbelievably UNCOOL.

I really hope they are being sarcastic here. I totally hate when people say stuff like this. You know, I never really got into Nirvana. I didn't hate them, I liked some of their songs, I just never really got into them. Just by saying you don't like something doesn't mean you are saying they suck. It just means that your taste does not align perfectly with the taste of others. freakin' a. i never bought a nirvana record...does that make me like a serial killer or something??

lol, I don't hate them, but i'm not a huge fan of them, I have like 2 of their CD's. the bad thing is since I like GNr people always think there is bad blood with me and Nirvana fans, there is none what so ever.

I forgot who I got in a debate with a while back, but I think janes addiction shold have been the band that got fame for starting grunge, thats just me though.

Why would there be 'bad blood'?
Does anyone really care about that kinda stuff?
Why Janes Addiction? Why not Mudhoney?
I thought Neil Young invented grunge?

Jane's addiction was from LA and they didn't play anything 'grungy' or dress or act like those guys. They were basically a glam band that could actually play. They were about as far from grunge as you could get. Grunge as you are defining it was a Seattle thing that started in the mid 80s with the U-Men, Green River, the Melvins, Skinyard, and Soundgarden. By the time Nevermind came out the Seattle hipster-people thought grunge was already over.

I know you won't change your opinion, axl, becasuse you never do. But today you are factually and historically inaccurate.

Nirvana was asked to tour with Guns and Roses and Metallica and they laughed at them. Axl Rose got upset that Nirvana thought he was just a silly glam rocker. I guess that hit a nerve.

Led Zeppelin was around before Jane's Addiction but you don't hear me saying they started grunge.

Its not so much who started it, they were both bands that were diffrent from the music at the time, and they paved way.

No offense, but let's face it, GNR fans are dipshit headbangers aren't they?

Of course GNR would bash Nirvana, and vice versa.....

GNR was fucking ridiculous.....all the poofy hair and silly dancing.....and leather pants......

The drummer was alright, at least he didn't play a big dumb kit....

(keep in mind, we all have very different backgrounds & ages, here....when GNR came out I was into the Descendents......I thought they, GnR, were just another dirt head band.....I always associated Metal with all those tough guy morons who called us kids wearing Doc Martens & Conversa, i could be banned soon.....years later of course, they all got into punk rock, when it was safe......I still hold a grudge.....)
