In this case, I'm dealing with an elitist metalhead who thinks his genre deserves more ink than anything else we might cover, including hip-hop, hard rock, Americana, indie rock, experimental stuff, hardcore, punk, ska, world music, industrial, garage, pop, electronic, blues, dance music, rockabilly, reggae, or any hyphenated combination of the above.
she forgot jazz AND classical. what a fucking bitch.
i guess all of these genres are a derivitive of jazz and classical, so i'll take it back. i'll blame satan.
awesome article.

A few more chords would add sssssssomething but maybe that's what
the artist is going for, a desolate landscape just the like the one we live
in, where sssssssso many people don't sssssseem to care. It's a sssssssad
portrate he paints of our sssssssociety, realy.
And let's admit. Leslie can be a bitch sssssssometimes.

LB(J)...
I DON'T WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN UNLESS YOU'VE GOT A CONFIRMED SHOW FOR ME,
YOU CAN GUARANTEE THAT SHOW AND YOU CAN AGREE TO KEEP YOUR CRITICISM TO YOUR
SELF.? IF AND WHEN YOU'RE EVER READY TO DO THAT, THEN LET ME KNOW.
You need to put your money where your mouth is or keep quiet.? Destinations
Unknown is not some fly-by-night local Arizona jam band that's been around for a
few months.? If you don't think this is a high profile act, then I invite you to
visit some of my friends at MySpace.? I can assure you none of those people will
take anyone's shit either.
I've played bigger venues than Modified and in bigger markets than Phoenix where
there was a helluva a lot more pressure to draw a crowd.? I've never waited
around so long to get a show than I have in Phoenix.? I've been living here on
and off for three or four years and I'm sorry to say that the music scene is
weak.? If you're jerking other people off the way you've done to me, it doesn't
say much for Modified helping the music scene to thrive.?
I understand the game you're trying to play...that's what you get paid to do,
but I don't have time for it.? Let's be clear, I don't need you to be my
producer, my partner or my band manager and I don't wanna be your daddy.? I'm
building Destinations Unknown piece by piece and no one is gonna twist my arm or
force me to do anything I don't want to do.? If I want you to critique my songs,
give me advice or decide my set lists for me, then I'll let you know.
I have more than fifty songs in my catalogue, all of them sound a little bit
different.? You should at least reserve your opinions until you've seen me play
live a few times.? I recently played two one-hour sets in March at the PHIX to
shake off the cobwebs after a two year hiatus and I've been rehearsing and
recording non-stop ever since Christmas...I'm ready to play again.
I have zero tolerance or patience for censorship.? If you or anyone else want to
stand in the way of Destinations Unknown playing live, then you'll have to take
all the abuse and assume all the risks that go along with that.? As they say,
"if you can't stand the heat, then you should get out of the kitchen."
Besides that, I'm not gonna audition for you nor I'm gonna play too many
unannounced free shows.? Just as you have to be concerned with booking shows
that will draw a crowd, I have worries of my own.? If I snapped at you, then I
apologize, but I've got holes in my teeth and I can't afford to have them fixed.
This is not your problem of course, but the truth is that I'm very much in the
red and my expenses have been adding up over the years and I can't afford not to
get paid anymore.? The bottom line for me is to sell CD's and I won't be able to
do that unless I can play live and tour.? How and where you, Modified or the
Phoenix music scene fit into that equation, remains to be seen.
The best I can offer you is to play one free show on a Tuesday nite as long as
you can guarantee a second show on a Thursday or Friday nite.? I don't care if
I'm the opener, the support or the headliner.? That's your call.? Take it or
leave it.? In all honesty, after the funk you were dishing out yesterday, I
don't care one way or the other if I ever play Modified.? It seems a bit shaky
down there and it may be too much of a risk for me to deal with????
