Beautiful movie to look at. It could have probably done with a little more character development, but I still enjoyed very much. I hope to see more from Shane Acker.
Paris, je t'aime
18 5 to 10-minute segments by 20 different directors. Best movie I've seen in a while. My favorite segment was the last one, "14ème Arrondissement," about the American tourist.
Bubble
Strange indie film directed by Steven Soderbergh. Not sure I can recommend, but I'm glad I watched it. Bonus points for only being 70 minutes. It had the potential to be entirely too long.

Thought the same thing about it. Wasn't something you'd expect from him, but in a good way.

I was really interested in seeing this just for the vampire segment. was it good?

Indeed it was, though it was highly incongruous to the rest of the film (not that that's a bad thing.)Paris, je t'aime

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.

By "on deck", I meant "I'll order them from netflix and sit on them for over two months before watching them."Day for Night and 13 Tzameti on deck!
So awesome. Truffaut is badass...Day for Night!
"Crazy?" Yeah...13 Tzameti
Crazy film. It's best to not know what it's about before going into it, so you're basically at the same level as the main character. I was nodding off because I decided to watch the movie late, but as soon as things kicked in, I didn't blink, and watched it to the end.
Holy shit.
Great recommendations!

3 stories from 3 directors set in Tokyo. All three are incredible. Merde was my favorite, though I appear to be in the minority with that one.
Synecdoche, New York
One of the most challenging movies I've watched in a long time. Kaufman is constantly trying to outdo himself in this, and it makes for a screenplay that pretty much runs the gamut, stylistically and thematically. I think I need to watch it again.

Great movie. Forgot how much I like both Jarmusch's directing style and Murray's deadpan acting. Makes me want to watch Lost in Translation again. I should prolly queue up a few more Jarmusch movies too.
Imprint
Hour long featurette for the Showtime series "Masters of Horror." Directed by Takashi Miike (Ichii the Killer, Audition, Gozu, etc.) Apparently banned from being aired, and went straight to DVD. Pretty intense torture scene, great costume design, and overall weirdness.
Caligula
I got about an hour in before I finally realized that I was watching the heavily edited version. The original was 156 minutes, and there version I was watching was only 101. I'm pretty much only interested in the uncut version because, well, I'm a depraved fuck. And, I wanna see what got everyone in such a huff.
