I'm tired of this presidential campaign to the White House. I feel both candidates are unqualified. One needs to take anger management classes, the other needs to quit promising hot air. It's sad America is going down hill, the economy, energy costs, ect... give me a break! Whoever wins I hope they will have a "New Deal" to save America.

yeah the joke is not funny, just dumb. but it definitely was the response to the joke resurfacing that was kind of appalling:

John McCain says Social Security is broken, but he also receives almost $2000/mo in SS benefits. I can't really fault him for getting benefits, because he's just using the system like anyone else would. But he really should have refused SS benefits. But if he truly thinks the system is broken, he shouldn't be a part of it, because in this case, there is no possible benefit to reform by going along for the ride.

I can easily imagine his thinking is along the lines of "eh, $2000 is petty cash, so me denying the benefits won't really make a difference."

Man, I don't know. I'm not a fan of jokes (like setup-punchline jokey jokes) usually, so maybe I'm not the best judge. Sounds too Leno to me.

I know "they" talk a whole lot about the sanctity of the office, and we are supposed to respect the office and not necessarily the person. It's just hard for me personally to reconcile that kind of holier-than-though rhetoric when people like him will then go and make fun of an 18-year-old girl who has little to do with anything for something she can't control.

Usually I'll have an easier time getting over that type of disconnect if the shit's funny. But shit didn't strike me as funny.

Just seemed low/no class more than anything.
