you could just make him fall in love with you and then slowly convert him! Maybe he is just not too educated or informed on politics and just voted for the "hometown" guy?
his defense was that he was in the army for a long time and democrats usually cut funding to the military. He said the military is pretty republican (surprise surprise!) I couldn't really argue with this since, yes, Clinton did in fact cut funding to our armed forces....
He said he voted for this last election with a provisional ballot and since those are rarely counted, technically he did not vote.
but his provo ballot was for McCain......so....
I feel like Julia Roberts in Sleeping With the Enemy.

You're faking your death with a buoy?
EXACTLY

The "little death", or so they say I'd imagine.

it wasn't pretty. I mean, it's fun to have someone to always be able to argue politics with.
but you can only say "booya" so many times before your mouth gets tired.
addendum,
I have to add that both republican girls were smokin' hot, otherwise I would not have even tried. Lust is an amazing thing.

my first BF is now a very well educated ex marine attorney who has always been staunchly conservative. we will never stop arguing, and we will probably never change each others minds. but i totally respect his opinions. he is one of the smartest people i know.
so what if he's a republican.

however, with that said, what is most important in a person that you would date? that he treats you well or his political leanings? you may run into an obama voting babe that is a cheating asshole! i recently went out with a killer guy here (intelligent, cute, funny, kick ass job etc) but it came to light that yeah, while we were both liberal, he was so non diplomatic about shit. he did things like talk loudly and critically about organized religion in the restaurants, wasn't able to listen to or tolerate another persons point of view, and so on. while we tended to agree on major issues, i could not get past his 'im right and EVERYONE should think like me" school of thought. so we chatted about differences ad we decided to just be friends. and we acutally are. i guess what i am getting at is we often idealize a potential mate in a certain way. if we open the door up to others who may not quite fit that mold, we may find new things that totally work for us. or sometimes in by dating our typical dudes, we find that things we thought were great aren't really the case. as in the non diplomatic hottie that i was dating a month ago.
