yesterday we had a FIGSTRAVAGANZA with all of the fresh figs from our tree.

appetizer was figs poached in port wine, stuffed with almonds, and wrapped in bacon.

spinach salad with figs, candied almonds, goat cheese, and a honey ginger vinaigrette.

grilled rack of lamb with a fig and mint glaze, served over grilled vegetables (eggplant, tomato, and squash).

then we had a cheese course (with figs, natch) of gorgonzola, cheddar, and manchego (which i drizzled with honey).

we were going to have a dessert of vanilla ice cream topped with figs that i had soaked in brandy, then dipped in sugar and blowtorched, but we were stuffed. so that will wait. also, we found out that figs are a natural laxative (we looked this up before we ate everything) so i scaled back on the sheer volume of fig so nobody shit their pants at the table.

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.

damn.. that all sounds pretty awesome. good thinking on the research beforehand. ha

gf and i just started the weight watchers dealy.. combined with actually putting our treadmill to use, we hope to see some positive results. with the website they have to track and manage everything, it shouldn't be bad at all. just gotta stay away from the fast food and sodas. beer will be the hardest part. although i did look it up and a miller lite is only 2pts. woooo! <_< ha ha

So I was hooked up last night by a friends business dealings and was included in a rather fancy sushi dinner @ Sushi Roko @ The W Hotel. Finally tried Toro ( tuna belly sashimi). It was pretty amazing, super fatty, definitely something I wont be including on my CC though haha.

My girl and I also made a curry last night but used more "need to eat these today" kinds of veggies with coconut milk, basil, some chili powder my grandparents grew etc.

She blended it a little and we had added a little corn starch as a thickener.

Then we poured it into a pie crust and one on top and baked it.

Curry pie

Freaking amazing.

because I'm weird about food. I am already thinking about my next meal when preparing my current one. I can also think about food when I full.
