Ate:

Baja Fresh beans and rice plate

It's not on the menu, but they will sell it to you for $1.83

Cheap. Filling. Borderline healthy.

ate at asi es la vida last night. that place was awesome. no mexi beer but they had freeze watermelon, pineapple, and cantaloupe juice. the food was excellent. it was a bit pricey but you get a pretty good size plate. my gf and i got an appetizer, shared an entree, got two drinks, and a dessert for like $42.

i've got probably the least discriminating palate around so i'm a horrible food critic. but what i dug about this place is that it wasn't your typical menu full of chimichangas and nachos. i don't know if they're featuring food from a different region of mexico than most other places (and i know most of that is all americanized anyway) but they had entrees i'd never seen on a mexican food restaurant's menu before and that was cool to me. of course i liked everything i ate there. which is typical for me. but what i liked most is that they had things i hadn't tried before and might have thought i wouldn't like before trying it. so yeah.. i'll be going back.

plus it's very unassuming. every time i'd drive by it i thought it looked like some glorified "'bertos" place. definitely not. oh, and you can bring your own beer and wine to drink since they don't serve. i believe they said there was a corking service fee, however.

Did some hardcore holiday baking last night for our big family get together. On the menu were pizzelles, farfellette, strufoli, and bitterweet chocolate and ricotta biscotti. In other words, a shitload of Italian cookies.

Someone at work brought homemade fudge and caramels, I ate one of both and now I feel sick, sugar overload. But it hurts so good. Butter. Real Butter

Emperors of Japan
Myspace

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.
