on behalf of all males born in the year 1988 i suggest you go for it. so he wont know alf or jem, but you were before pogs and nintendo 64 right? alf, jem, pogs, and 64 are all badass so whats the difference? just throw the kid a boneborn in 1988!
wont get my 80s pop culture references to things like Alf (which i reference A LOT in daily convo) or Jem
was 12 in 2000!

I think the term cougar refers to a woman who actively seeks to engage in...uh, whoopie with a male at least 10 years younger than she is.
