I like that I can look up people I used to know and see what their lives look like.

This girl I thought was really awesome in 5th grade and who dated the boy that everyone had a crush on is now fat and has the same expresion on her face in every photo she has.

The guy I had a crush on in 6th grade is now an opera singer and married to an opera singer.

This girl I was in Girl Scouts with is now married to a Mormon guy 15 years older than she and is OBSESSED with playing every dumb game on there.

Another girl scout buddy is now a lesbian hairstylist who is married to a really butch lady.

My best friend from high school is still an obnoxiously trying-too-hard attention whore and totally covered in tattoos.


It's weird that a lot of the people I knew in high school and younger are still best friends with each other. I'll look through one of their pictures and see...oh, um...it's HER! And that one girl! Yeah. They knew each other in elementary school and now they are each other's bridesmaids and go on trips together and stuff.

I keep in touch with a few of my friends from then, but we're not close friends anymore. Was I doing it wrong? I don't have any real friends from back then. All my best pals are people I met through my interests outside of school, and if I need bridesmaids someday, chances are they're going to be a bunch of dudes I'm in bands with.

Ha. My sister facebook'd something about having loud sex. I had to reminder her that Grandma is now on facebook. Both my aunts commented with "LOL!"

My mother threatened to join Facebook. I don't want my mother seeing my status updates, but you can't really deny a friend request from your own mother. It's bad enough that my deadbeat biological father is on there watching my every move. I want to social network but this is getting out of hand.

I reverted to my screen name (from my real name) for just this reason. My mom was smart and courteous enough to not ask me to friend, however she is friends with my friends?

Facebook crosses so many lines I don't want crossed. I want to be where my friends are, but not necessarily where my mom, grandma, cousins, co-workers, etc. are all hangin' out online.
