My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.

i would <_<

but then i'd prolly get date raped too.

It's a fact that 98% of America's date rapes occur on Mill Ave.

That statistic is simply not fair to what Scottsdale contributes.

man, if there's an un-funny joke about date rape, i haven't heard it.

FYI, the sex offender registry isn't too crowded at mill avenue. but that's probably because they can't afford to live on mill.

there don't appear to be too many sexual assaults on mill either. they must throw their victims in the van and drive elsewhere.

All sex in scottsdale is consensual, it's a capitalistic endeavor only though. There's no such thing as love in Scottsdale.

oh look at you with the truth!

You don't believe my link to the downtown tempe business site is proof enough to back up my statement?

Good luck trying to find a site that proves there's love in Scottsdale!

I guess they've got to try new (old) things.
The fact that some folks DO want to try and make Mill interesting again is actually a good sign.
A RARE sign that anyone in town has a memory beyond 5 years.
Plus, the fact is, there just aren't many places (bar/venues in a geographic central area) where events can like this can be held.
Notice I didn't say concerts, the summer of sound is an event more then a concert, and cuz of that has different needs.
It does seem really . . . awkward, but from a marketing/"remember when" point of view, I understand it.

Anyone coming to work on the GRID wall on the 17th?
Its 3rd Friday again, time to add more bands.

Seriously, there is no defense for Mill Ave. It sucks. All I ever said is Tempe is a way better place to live.

word.

i like living in phx. you like living in tempe. Looks like we both win on this one. Actually, everyone's a winner in this contest, except for No Age. They are gonna lose this one.

to me Mill ave is like that boyfriend who dumps you for the girl with bigger boobs. After she dumps him, he, of course, comes crawling back, but no amount of begging can stop you from telling him that his penis privileges with you are long gone.

I ended up driving down Mill Ave earlier this morning and couldn't help but notice that there's not much left there at all. A lot of the big chains have moved out, and I would say at least half if not more of the smaller shops are empty with "Available" signs in the windows. If there was ever a time for a Mill Ave culture renaissance, now would be it. I'm not familiar with No Age, but if their playing at the Library helps kick things in the correct direction, then by all means.

I thought it was weird that NO AGE would be playing there, but they are pretty big now. Sucks to hear that they won't play trunkspace anymore.

Its our job to find "the next" "No Age" . . . so they too can eventually leave us.
I feel like one of (or all of) Rod Stwearts ex-wives--only w/ out the alimony.

It is not about which is better. It is about which direction each is heading in.

Phoenix has more cool bars and restaurants and businesses opening all the time. Tempe is losing them every day. There is a large ground swell of people working to make Phoenix better day in and day out. Tempe just has cool people moving to Phoenix and large developers trying to strip it of anything unique.
