I lived in Central Phoenix for about 8 years And miss it soo much.
I like Tucson more than both.
I like Chicago more Tucson.
I have no point!
I know alot of folks from both Phoenix and Tempe that wont leave their little areas.
I have no Idea whats up with that.

It is not about which is better. It is about which direction each is heading in.
Phoenix has more cool bars and restaurants and businesses opening all the time. Tempe is losing them every day. There is a large ground swell of people working to make Phoenix better day in and day out. Tempe just has cool people moving to Phoenix and large developers trying to strip it of anything unique.
In truth, the same things is happening is dwntwn, just about 5-10 years behind tempe.
When Wilowhouse closed and that quiznows opened, yea it was obvious.

I am kind of a Phoenix homer, something about the heat and smell of cresote and the old plaza's on like 7th ave and Indian school that remind me of my childhood.
As I got "older" I started liking Phoenix more and more, seemed more organic as opposed to Tempe. But Tempe is still cool and "culturally" more 24 hours than Phoenix.
But I live now in a not as far north region of the PHX and enjoy it, plus I don't have to deal with ASU crowds or homeless people, so I say its a wash, we live in a sprawling metropolis, you have to drive to get some where, ie: work, shows in PHX/Tempe, bars, friends house, eventually you are going to have to drive to get some where.
I mean, if you live in glendale...than that sucks.
But yeah, I have friends who won't leave Tempe for the life of them, ask them to come see my newborn..."can you bring her to me, you live so far" I live on Northern ass hole, Broadway is far....anyway.
I went to the Library during one of those Best of Phoenix New Times block party things...place was chump son.
