I went to see IHYWYP on the back porch of Fate and Garrett approached me to say he had seen me around and asked me if I was on the Shizz. I had no idea what he was talking about.

When we (Aaron, Ben, me) moved out here it was a complete shock to the system. I sold my shitty truck (thinking it was going to die, but it lasted another 7 years in Maine) under the impression that there was some form of public transportation. And it was fucking hot. I miss walking to the grocery in the heat (AB did we actually buy milk and walk it back?). David from Ten Commandments took us to see our first show at Modified (Death of Marat!), we found the Alley through someone on our website, and ended up spending like $600 in a month drinking there... First time we went we saw a rock-a-billy band and a vampire behind the bar... loved it so much I took my mom there. Saw Vin Fiz at the alley shortly afterwards, loved just watching the open mic nights, I think that's where i met half of the people I know today... So many awesome NYE parties, including the Ruby Lee reunion at living head that got broken up by the cops but lasted long enough for me to get a picture of Bobby kissing me... Ben falling into the bushes at 2am outside the alley, Aaron and I getting challenged to fight while waiting for a cab... Farmer house! Robot house! the lab! Malibu! I remember the Optimist giving Kristin the most inappropriate birthday gift from an acquaintance ever... Being extremely drunk at a coffee shop in mesa watching transgojobot... The old paper heart on 5th avenue? I already miss drinking at the ruby room after work on Fridays, since it was walking distance. Tearing apart the modified stage with Marty and Brandt so we could keep Devine from falling through it... I think I have a hat from Lonna's graduation party that says "blow on my propeller and I'll follow you anywhere"? Oh wait, I was supposed to be writing a paper tonight instead of reading all these posts. I need to eat cheese to wash these tears away.

i met chadnasty 1 random nite at casey's, met meininger, arp and iverson same nite. farmer house became my home, andy, david and a couple others during this time. lkelly and burke on the porch, kristin at a house party, garret and casey together, don't remember exactly but she used to read books in your car outside the shows. fred playing drums in hfc. burke and fred singing hfc at house show in flag. shane making me a shins cd before it came out as a bday gift for chad. mike miskowski's old place on grand ave. seeing rum tenor and shane play around the camp fire. donald, not sure, but there was a van and you lived in a brick building. emerald lounge table by the bar and then moving into the room for the show, threw a beer bottle across the bar because i drink until i'm drunk sometimes. really met marty at his party with shots at the door. unluckycharm at the brickhouse for dj nite pontificating the beauty of travis. what a great, long, continuous journey. thanks for this thread these are awesome memories.

first trip to phx:
drove 20 hours straight in hopes of seeing some bands and meeting up with some people i had no contact with other than bullshitting on a message board. slept a few hours in the papago parking lot after driving around phx for a few hours. talked to d.o.nald and lbarton and found a hotel. passed chambers while trying to find the argo to meet donald and ben, got a call from john lipfert two seconds later and met him and christine instead. went to long wong's and met chadk. went to border's and saw the minibosses for the first time. went to the argo and saw minibosses for the second time. met tons of shizz people. went to the argo the next night and saw ihywyp, mr pacman, treasure mammal, and magicyclps. got a free t mammal shirt, got free manporn from phil, met weener, awkwardly talked to garrett about his avatar on the shizz. didn't do shit on that sunday. scary walk to modified the next night by myself, less scary walk back. went to minibosses practice the next night. went to los dos the night after that then saw budget sinatra at modified. crashed at lkelly's place instead of hotel because someone tried to break into my dad's truck at hotel. checked out of hotel, went to minibosses practice. somewhere around here i decided i wanted to move to phx. ben said i was crazy and to come back in the summer before making such a decision. all-night margarita shizz posting festival with ab and lkelly so i decided to stay another night. papago party where john and christine drunkenly convinced me to buy her bass cab. threw $300 on the table and said i'd pick it up in the morning. got up in the morning and struggled to leave. picked up the cab, drove home.

second trip to phx:
mexican food followed by show at holga's. met bobby and ray and some other people. left a now infamous voice mail for phil. drank more than i had ever drank at that point. could not eat all of my pannido afterward. crashed at donald's and woke up too early. listened to donald snore, then went to see harry potter. got drunk with donald then went to modified. saw vin-fiz, necronauts, and aaa for the first time. accidentally shit my pants while peeing on ben's truck. cleaned up and threw my soiled shorts into the modified bathroom trashcan, then watched the minibosses / jenova project. partied at the lipferts' and everyone else afterward and went to sleep. made pancakes for everyone at lkelly's place the next day then cried at the airport.

*exhale* that's all the energy i have for this post. maybe i'll post more later.

found it awesome that some dude from nebraska, or wherever mig is from was moving out this way based on relationships formed by the shizz. but, mig's always been dramatic.

I still check back every blue moon or so. Saw this thread and couldn't resist adding to it.

I cut my teeth at robothouse.org in its hey day. As far as theshizz.org, I'm a latecomer.

I do remember seeing HotFoughtCold, Ten Commandments: The Movie, and Stab City Slit Wrists at the Farmer House. I can't reference a year or date, I'm not good like that.

I know ChadK from his FLG days.

Was this the neon back-shed HFC show? I think that is when I began to follow the shizz more closely. no more fuck city townhall for me. Though I never did go sleeveless. So many good memories at the Farmer House it is hard to keep them straight, including chadnasty taking an extreme disliking to me upon our first proper meeting. Something about me not being cool enough to be there I think.

i forgot to mention about the time some of us were drunkenly going home from the
alley and lkelly got into a cab that was parked outside and drove it around the
parking lot while the cab driver was inside the alley, only to bring it back parked facing the opposite way. the look on the cabbie's face was fucking priceless. i do believe i peed a little i laughed so hard.

i fell asleep in your bathtub. got woken up by those
limbeck guys. they did the dragging. and the next thing i remember is getting woken up again
with the use of the end of a broom stick by a congress employee. i had passed out in the
hallway right outside of the room i was suppose to be staying in. good times.

any time at congress has always been a hoot. i am sad though, i missed out almost the entire
nite of the california is for losers stay at congress. i woke up to strange hair sculptures
chris(less pain) had given marquez and vining. im really sad i missed that.

-oh and the boombox shows at emerald were pretty memorable. the sweet weiner and colorwhore
shows kind of all meld into one big drunken blur.

do you think it was RV's 2am fire and brimstone sermon at the top of his lungs, or you getting dragged around the hallways with lipstick smeared across your face, or the dance party, or the jumping on beds, or the fact that we were repeatedly asked to quiet the f*ck down?

east coast perspective:
-talking to mig on the phone during his long drive to phx
-hanging with the bosses in boston and philly
-the ultimate show wherupon i met several people for the first time including weener who i didn't realize i had met until after the fact
-biggameover's gracious hosting and airport pickup and making sure i got proper on sparks and smoke as soon as we arrived at his place
-garret's gracious hosting at his place and hanging with celebrity $ex at modified and eating at whatever place that was that i got a chicken shawarma (pita jungle?)
-ugg boots
-insane multi-stage/location show in Baltimore w/ Jetomi and IHYWYP
-sweating a lot and showing the phx people that even though it doesn't get above 100 much on the east coast, the humidity will kill you

i wanna go back to phx sometime... maybe 2010. gimme a reason, guys.
