i met almost all the Shizzums through Lonna in 05 i think and seen everyones bands play a hundred times since then and have been mostly inspired and greatful to have met everyone because of that. Thanks for introducing me to so many good people and good musicians, LBK.
However I think I've known(sort of) Abelardo the longest, having met him through my old bass player and friend when I was in a band called The Orange that played various "art galleries" around Grand and the area and whatever Modified used to be named. I think the one we played a few times was called 1023. That was 2002. We practiced over on Thomas/Osborn/Indian somewhere. man, francisco studios? franko? blehk! oh phoenix.
i think The Orange was a great band and also a great name. What about a reunion?
I feel really grateful too, for all the friends and musicians that have inspired me.
do you still have that Gibson? because that was an amazing deal!
my gibson started to fall apart, so i put it to rest.

When we (Aaron, Ben, me) moved out here it was a complete shock to the system. I sold my shitty truck (thinking it was going to die, but it lasted another 7 years in Maine) under the impression that there was some form of public transportation. And it was fucking hot. I miss walking to the grocery in the heat (AB did we actually buy milk and walk it back?). David from Ten Commandments took us to see our first show at Modified (Death of Marat!), we found the Alley through someone on our website, and ended up spending like $600 in a month drinking there... First time we went we saw a rock-a-billy band and a vampire behind the bar... loved it so much I took my mom there. Saw Vin Fiz at the alley shortly afterwards, loved just watching the open mic nights, I think that's where i met half of the people I know today... So many awesome NYE parties, including the Ruby Lee reunion at living head that got broken up by the cops but lasted long enough for me to get a picture of Bobby kissing me... Ben falling into the bushes at 2am outside the alley, Aaron and I getting challenged to fight while waiting for a cab... Farmer house! Robot house! the lab! Malibu! I remember the Optimist giving Kristin the most inappropriate birthday gift from an acquaintance ever... Being extremely drunk at a coffee shop in mesa watching transgojobot... The old paper heart on 5th avenue? I already miss drinking at the ruby room after work on Fridays, since it was walking distance. Tearing apart the modified stage with Marty and Brandt so we could keep Devine from falling through it... I think I have a hat from Lonna's graduation party that says "blow on my propeller and I'll follow you anywhere"? Oh wait, I was supposed to be writing a paper tonight instead of reading all these posts. I need to eat cheese to wash these tears away.
This is the best thread!
I totally forgot that you and Aaron Burke were at my graduation party. JDLC was wayyy drunk that night and Fatigo played too, at least they tried too, I think everyone was beyond gone at that point. I do remember that the grand prize was an oversized purple my little pony and that random people kept stealing it throughout the night. I think someone got naked and climbed the roof? were you there for that?
I also remember that livinghead NYE. It was one of my best NYE memories minus the getting busted by the cops part.
Also, Mark and I had a NYE party at our house 2008 and at some point my refrigerator was face down on the middle of the kitchen floor. There was also a food fight (cough, clearing throat) um, MIG! I spent the next day scrubbing hot sauce off the ceiling.

I saw a picture of Donald once with really long hair. Mike and Donald had a studio apartment in tempe. I went over there a few times. It was so tiny. Mike said he slept in the closet. I didn't believe him till he showed me the little bed he had for himself underneath all the hanging clothes. Hey Donald, remember that time I yelled at you? That was stupid.
Yeah, I slept in a closet for about a year or two. I also remember seeing Lonna play with Mike Little at the balboa cafe way before we had ever met at Hollywood Alley with Mike Montoya. WOW the memories, but I have no recollection of you ever yelling at me. I wouldn't doubt it though, I drank ALOT back then and probably did something stupid.
I always credit the Hollywood Alley for being where the shizz basically started, that's where Briefcase (now known as Nowhere Man and Whiskey Girl), Johnny Bionic, World Class Thugs, and many more people all met up and helped make the shizz what it is today.
I have been struggling with carpal tunnel and haven't been on her much since halloween, so I am just now seeing this.
Message board?
This is The Shizz.
Chromelodeon manages to get all the furniture from their hotel into the lake a few years back...and people are worried about shizzies?

I met donald working at MCI and have known mike montoya and john de la cruz the longest of anyone, I guess. It is amazing to think I have known many of you for well over a decade now. how does time pass so fast? I remember meeting marty and mike d at long wongs one night at a show. what show? who knows. i remember hanging out with jen and chad at wongs, too. Miss that place! living head NYE is also one of my favorite memories. that night was awesome. sooo many good times at the hollywood alley. i think when we lived in mesa we went there like 2-3 times a week. though not strictly shizz related, sxsw with the minibosses was one of the best weeks ever. we had sooo much fun at some weird irish bar with matt, ab, john, ben, lkelly and natalie. sad also that the emerald is gone. many good nights have been had at the bikini too. I remember larah offering to punch out some dude who insulted my outfit. that was pretty rad, thanks! oh, and matt always yelling take off your shirt at all the bands. i also remember some weird dogpile involving mig at one of the first "first fridays" after maybe a minibosses show? i was an observer, obviously, not participant. i miss a lot of bands that no longer be.
oh nostalgia!

I sucked really hardcore in those days, but I always enjoyed hearing you guys play. Always inspiring, entertaining, and cool people to boot. Hanging out and getting plastered was the way of things. I miss those days, because I played as often as I could find a place to play, and there were always great musicians pumping out new tunes. I hardly ever play anymore, and it has alot to do with the people I run into. Maybe I should just find new venues.

I remember the first Paper heart and playing there. It was for some sort of Valentines Talent Show that Georgia Geis was putting on..That's where I met Mary/Julie and Scott (the owner). I remember thinking he was a porn-star....never really figured that one out. He was a great guy tho'....anyone seen him? (not his work)
I remember the first time I saw WCT. It was at the Emerald and I instantly fell in love with their quirkiness...I think I met Jim Miles somewhere around that time. ..I think he was playing with Johnny Bionic ..
