All the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

This book sounds interesting. I would rather read his memoirs at 60 or 80 or something. JPs musical output has been a bit ahead of the curve (much like sonny kay) and the bulk of it has been quality, so I feel the book is totally viable. Hell, anyone who can get someone to cough up the money to publish a book is viable to someone.

I can see the pros and cons to putting out a book at a young age. I suppose I'd rather read something now when the memories and names are still fresh vs years down the road when I could potentially be dead/not care....

He can't stay out of his dope coma long enough to write one.
David Sedaris and Augusten Burroughs have written many memoirs start from a fairly young age. And all that had was a fucked up upbringing and being gay. But they sure can make it all seem funny and interesting.

I agree that writing a memoir at any age seems awfully narcissistic.. But I believe muscians/ entertainers all have to be slightly narcissistic or else they wouldn't be preforming in front of people.
If John Waters suggest I should write a memoir I'd probably at least consider writing one.
