here's my research on the positive republican candidates running in the primaries today:

Senate:
Jim Deakin – least likely to get elected but is anti-choice, anti-immigration etc. voting for him might throw off the votes. Could also write-in

Congress District 1
Steve Mehta – surprisingly good on issues, definitely vote for him

Congress District 2
Charles Black – basically pro-choice

Congress District 3
LeAnn Hull – had no anti-choice shit on her website
Paulina Morris – also no anti-choice shit on her website

Congress District 4
Jose Penalosa – says nothing about being anti-choice, has a logistical immigration reform plan

Congress District 5
Susan Bitter Smith – stupid sound bites on immigration and other issues, doesn’t state she’s anti-choice

Lee Gentry – same as above

Chris Salvino – comprehensive healthcare plans but stupid border security stuff, doesn’t say he’s anti-choice

Mark Spinks – doesn’t say he’s anti-choice, realistic on border and immigration issues

Congress District 6
Both suck
Jeff Flake – mormon
Jeff Smith – idiot, supports sb1070

Congress District 7
Terry Myers – doesn’t say he’s anti-choice but he wants to do more coal mining

Congress District 8
Brian Miller – doesn’t say he’s anti-choice

Governor
Matt Jette – supports realistic immigration reform instead of sb1070

State Senator District 1

Steve Pierce – doesn’t say he’s anti-choice but he’s an idiot on immigration issues

State Senator District 3
Ron Gould – is the only one running – he’s dumb, anti-choice

State Senator District 4
All are anti-choice idiots

State Senate District 5
Both are bad
Konopnicki is endorsed by Jan Brewer
Sylvia Tenney Allen is anti-choice

State Senate District 6
Both suck – both anti-choice

State Senate District 7
Ray Barnes – Christian
Nancy Barto – anti-choice idiot and civil rights violator
Brad Buch – bad on immigration
Bob Green – bad on immigration

State Senate District 8
Michele Reagan – doesn’t say she’s anti-choice

State Senate District 9
Rick Murphy – Christian, probably anti-choice but doesn’t say it. Good with child services bills

State Senate District 10
Linda Gray – endorsed by Arizona Family Project which sounds like an anti-choice organization

so who are some good folks to vote for? and opinions?

I'm voting for Penny Kotterman for School Super, best bet so far to hopefully better education. What are the teacher's opinion on this Chad?

All the time when I tell people what I do they say, "Oh I don't understand art, I can't even draw." (or worse, "I only like art I can understand.") Well, ya know what, I don't know how to make a car, but I sure appreciate being able to drive one.

candidate A meets every conceivable criteria you have for a politician: their policies on economics, education, crime, etc, are all in line with your core values EXCEPT they're anti-choice.
candidate B meets none of your criteria - you disagree with them on every category, but they're pro-choice.

who do you vote for? serious question.

My thesis is called the "Black-Emperor-Says Theory" and holds that any any Phoenix-area indie rock festival there is a 100 percent probability that Emperors of Japan, Black Carl, and/or What Laura Says will be on the bill.

that's a good question. but it's hard to see how someone could be pro-choice and anti-gay marriage or against environmental preservation or renewable energy or for war etc.

but i always check to see if candidates are pro-choice because, voting for bills that take away our reproductive choices and rights always leads to voting for bills that take away other civil rights.

they are the same. they are still voting to take away civil rights. it's a slippery slope.

i always vote pro-choice because that is an indicator of whether they are in-touch with the real world and the people living in it and how much they respect people's privacy and rights and freedoms.

i recognize that it's an unrealistic scenario, but i wanted to pose it either way.

i'm not a fan of voting for a candidate based on one specific issue - although usually i'm arguing with people on the other side of the aisle about it.

Hull is pro-life I believe.

Morris on the other hand is pro-choice and talked a lot about the importance of the separation of church and state during one of the debates. I was pretty impressed to see that not only in a Republican primary but also in a very conservative district during a "tea-party year". Was kind of hoping the other 13 candidates would completely split the vote and she would win.....but Ben Quayle it is!
