Yesterday I was on a total SY kick and listened to Sonic Nurse and Murray Street on my turntable, and then listened to them in my car, and listened to A Thousand Leaves before bed. This morning I listened to Rather Ripped on my way to work.

weird i just got done reading the sy biography
and i went on a total sy kick for an entire week and a half
i liked putting the record on as i was reading about
the particular period so in essence, all of these records
either made it to my cd player, ipod, turntable and even tape
deck.

sy (on tape where the b side is just the a side but backwards), confusion is sex, master dik, bad mood rising, evol, sister, daydream, whitey album, goo, dirty, silver sessions, experimental jet set, washing mashine, 1000 leaves, nyc ghosts, murray st, sonic nurse, rather ripped, destroyed room and SYR 1 - 6.

couldn't sit through made in usa tho.
and i managed to sneak in a couple of free kitten records unboxed, nice ass and sentimental education
and thurston's psychic hearts, academy and a 10" with tom surgal.

such an awesome listening week
too bad my coworkers hate my ass now
fuck 'em

I had that! I thought it was totally cool, even though I couldn't get further than 2-3 minutes into side B.

And they need to release some sort of package with all of the SYR releases.

Fuck, now I wanna listen to Sonic Youth.

That sounds totally epic. I should get that bio and read it as well. Dunno if I'm gonna go the whole gamut though...

Oh yeah last night I finished a short Kerouac book (Tristessa) and read some Allen Ginsberg poetry (Howl) while listening to Sonic Nurse.

You digging them?

I picked up Tortoise - Standards on vinyl in Philly yesterday, thinking I had never heard the album before. Then I listened to it and realized that I had heard it before, and it's awesome.

Yeah, the A.Armada album is really good. I haven't listened to Maserati much yet, but I like the initial vibe of it. I have been meaning to listen to Standards again. I bought it when it came out and I wasn't that into it but I haven't listened to it in a while so I wouldn't be surprised if my opinion changed.

In other news:
I've been working on a "My 401k sucks, so let's party" mix. I've been listening to Night Marchers, King Kahn, Ratatat, among others while trying to put it together.

New president = happy times.

I cabbed it to the bar, read about a hundred pages from a Sedaris book, flirted with some servers, people watched, and went to the record store for the first time in a few months. All in wonderful 65 degree weather.

God damn it was a good night. I'm seriously in better spirits.

The Jesus and Mary Chain ~ The Power of Negative Thinking (sweet ass 4cd b-side/rarity box set, god I loved their shitty ass hair) (If anyone wants a copy, PM me. capthfc, one's coming your way regardless)
The VSS ~ Nervous Circuits (deluxe)
Jesu ~ Why Are We Not Perfect
TV on the Radio ~ Dear Science (had a free digital copy, decided to support the band and my local record store)
M83 ~ Saturdays = Youth
Squarepusher ~ Do You Know Squarepusher?
Stereolab ~ Chemical Chords
Skull Control ~ Deviate Beyond All Means of Capture
Radiohead ~ Amnesiac (i forgot how much I love this album. easily my favorite.)
Mogwai ~ The Hawk is Howling
Ratatat ~ LP3
Deerhoof ~ Offend Maggie

Wow. What a good fucking night.
